Blood donation needed for O - (O negative) for Spanish citizen in Hua Hin

HUA HIN: -- The Spanish Embassy in Thailand has been informed that a Spanish citizen is seriously ill in Hua Hin Hospital, Thailand, and needs with the utmost urgency blood type O - (O negative).

Given the scarcity of this type of blood in Thailand, anyone who can donate this blood type, please contact Hua Hin hospital or the Thai Red Cross in all its centers mentioning to them the Hua Hin patient or call Don Ricardo Herrera at phone 086 351 9014.

I tried but the local Red cross say I am too old yet donate blood in the Uk. Can someone tell the THAI RED CROSS that foreigners are probably healthier than their Thai counterparts and that it is a shame that Thai red tape stops so much from happening.

My wife has just rung the hospital and they will not accept blood from anyone over sixty. As most of the expats are over sixty here there must have been a good chance of finding doners of the O Neg blood type (self included). Good luck anyway.

It should be the patient's call about taking a donor over 60 barring any known or apparent health problems of the donor.

I agree, surely they must test the blood before giving it to the patient.

Interesting to see if you lived in the UK between 1980 and 1996 you are not eligible to donate. The mad cow thing.
