Hello, I used to got this medication, so I would like to know if I need to going on the RED CHANNEL or GREEN CHANNEL during my coming to Thailand ?

well, I've a prescription paper who is written on French.. I cannot got one in English, or I need go to make a long paperwork with a translator..

so, I would like to know I need to go to RED CHANNEL or the GREEN CHANNEL .. during entrance in Thailand at Customs channel..

I won't got any troubles. I'm scared even going to RED CHANNEL and they will prosecuted me for bringing illegal drugs, or even with " invalid prescription " .. blablabla

My experience has been going through the red channel. Generally, you'll breeze through faster than the green. Check the medicine box to declare on your flight card. Have your passport and prescription handy, keep the meds in their pharmacy bottles that have your name on them. Declare and show them. Better to declare them in there red channel than to get spot-checked in the green channel.

30 days' worth of pills at a time should cause you no trouble at all. In fact, most of the agents have just laughed and sent me along...bypassing that long queue in the green channel.

Bon chance!

Prozac yes, but the other two drugs are controlled and available only at hospital pharmacies.

Alrazolam and zolpidem are category 4 and 2 pyschotropics respectively. Rule for bringing them in: not more than 30 day supply, and accompanied by a certificate or prescription from the prescribing physician. http://narcotic.fda.moph.go.th/faq/upload/guidance%20for%20travelers%20version%205._e956.pdf page 3

Red channel and I doubt you'll have any problem if they are in a prescription bottle which clearly shows your name and the name of the drug, even if all else is in French.

Slightly offtopic2.gif but do you know if there are any restrictions importing Blood Pressure meds (Amlodipine)into Thailand?

I might be coming for 6 months and get these prescribed free in UK, so would like to bring enough for the trip (approx 180 tablets)

Thanks in anticipation

Thanks for the information so, if my english level is not wrong it said I didn't required to walk at the RED CHANNEL ?

" Those travellers carrying all other medications into Thailand (including medications containing psychotropic substances of Categories 2, 3, and 4) do not have to declare their medications at the Customs Dept. Red Channel if the medication is for personal treatment in a quantity not exceeding 30 days of prescribed usage and accompanied by a certificate/medical prescription from the prescribing physician. Those medications are then considered personal belongings. "

Interesting about Alprhazolam. I had prescriptions all my life in the states. No big deal. Once a month if the nerves and emotions got out of check. I remember up until 3 years ago, you could get them at any pharmacy, then the government had them pulled because they felt that was the drug used by LadyBoys to knock out their customers and robbing them. I cannot imagine how many pills it would take to knock a person out. Never found it to be powerful, nor would I want it to be.

Yes, as it reads you can go thru green channel.

For the poster who asked about BP meds-- the only restriction is quantity (30 days supply). These meds do not require a prescription in Thailand.

Sheryl,

the U.S. is the only country i know where pharmacies dispense drugs in special containers with the name and other details of the patient.

Thanks for the response Sheryl - the 30 day restriction's annoying though 'cos i'll need to bring more as I said. I guess even if they don't require a prescription I'll have to take a chance and bring my UK prescription anyway as evidence. Can't exactly see any way out of that one!

The limit is 30 days but in practice I have never known them to count tablets, as long as at a glance it looks consistent with short term personal us, i.e. not a suitcase full.

Chances are your meds are available over the counter here in an inexpensive locally made brand. Amlodopine definitely is.

THAT is very good news - I can therefore bring mine and if I get them confiscated, I can buy locally - win-win situation! biggrin.png

Having said all this, a very good friend of mine spends some of his time in Thailand and comes to UK twice a year and effectively "stocks up" on prescription meds for BP (different to mine), Diabetes, a heart condition and all sorts of other conditions.

I know I once suggested he carries copies of his prescriptions - not sure whether he does but I do know he's never had problems.

Thanks a lot thumbsup.gif

The UK does too

UK, Ireland,Singapore and Thailand now have gone modern on drug labels

All the Meds I've received in recent years have a sticker on them with patient name, Dr name, dosage and quantity etc

Even non controlled Meds like antiseptic lotion pads for cleaning a wound had my name printed on the box and the quantity and usage Instructions
