I came to Penang to renew my Cambodian GF's 1 year NON b visa. She has a wp issued May 28th 2015.

They will NOT issue her a non B visa

they also will not even give her single entry tourist VISA

seems new law that all Asians And Africans must return to their own country to get visas. NO more just hoping over the border.

So now her Non B has expired but she has a valid WP but can ONLY get a 15 day visa exempt stamp on entry

Does ANYONE know 100% if Laos will issue a double entry tourist visa for a Cambodian National???

If so will drive up ( i drive to Penang) to Vientiane and apply

Otherwise she will need to return to Cambodia ONLY to get her visa.

This new goverment is really cracking down

URGENT< please

anyone

Cambodia appears on this list from the KL website. http://www.thaiembassy.org/kualalumpur/contents/files/services-20141216-151507-411806.pdf It says tourist visa but the apply it for all visas.

Same here for Vientiane: http://vientiane.thaiembassy.org/upload/pdf/RestrictedCountries2013.pdf

It seems a trip to Cambodia is needed. They more than likely do the multiple entry non-b for a Cambodian citizen with the proper documents.

i wonder why Laos, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and Myanmar are not on the list?

The list for laos is 2013 !

I cannot answer that question with any certainty. It could have something to do with diplomatic relations with certain countries or even at the request of those countries, For some countries it would be the economic condition of them.

I think KL was slow in posting the info on it's website or were caught by the MFA for not enforcing the rules.

I'm quite sure that Laos does NOT issue any visas to citizens of neighboring countries such as Vietnam and this would probably apply to Cambodians too. I also heard they don't do visas for a host of other nationalities such as Pakistanis, yet I saw a Pakistani applying for a visa in Vientiane last year when I was there in March. Go figure?

Anyway, given how close Cambodia is, I see no reason why you would even consider going elsewhere to apply for a visa for a Cambodian national. Laos is further away than Cambodia and knowing that you, Phuketrichard, likes to drive to neighboring countries and just because officially you aren't supposed to drive to Phnom Penh in a Thai car isn't a good enough reason not to go there. LOL. But seriously, just go to Cambodia, unless you are avoiding the place for some unknown reason, it's probably the only chance of success your girlfriend will have.

And while this is only a minor point, Cambodians get 14 days visa free in Thailand, not 15. 15 is for many western nationalities arriving overland.

Cambodia is NOT closer to Phuket than Penang Malaysia ( just drove back in 9 hours)

The full list of countries where u cannot get a visa was posted in a link from UBonjoe above (Post 2)

and ONLY Cambodia and Vietnam in se asia are on the list NOT Malaysia, Not Myanmar,

I am not avoiding Cambodia at all.

So now she is in with a 14 days visa exempt and a wp valid till next may but.....

what a up.....

They almost wouldn't give her a 14 day stamp , the lady i went to said NO ( just shock her head an handed passport back) as she had to many entry stamps in her passport

i explained to her that the past 2 years she has held 1 year non B visa's with wp so had to leave every 90 days, what an ass.

SO we saw the supervisor an he understood,

The agent in Penang said nothing but trouble since the Junta took over.

Of course it isn't, you are right. You were right to go to Penang first, but now Cambodia should be your back-up. I should have been more clear; what I was referring to was you were asking about whether a Cambodian can get a Thai visa in Laos; Cambodia is closer to Bangkok than Laos is, so it would seem absurd to go to Laos (in order to bypass Cambodia) when you obviously should be going there.

Sucks to hear about what happened to your girlfriend. Go to Cambodia and report back what happened - I hope all goes well.

BUT laos will issue a double entry tourist visa

Cambodia will not

its actually cheaper for me even here in Phuket to fly to Udon, bus to Nong Khai an cross to Vientiane

than fly to Phuket- Bangkok-Phnom Phen Return.

Am seeing a lawyer an see what can be done, right now i am so fed up with all this shit I see why people grease the wheels

Good to see that Thai Immigration is so well prepared for ASEAN.

Why would they need to be prepared for ASEAN that has been around for since the 1960's.

Or do you mean the ASEAN Economic Community which will have very little effect on what immigration does. It is not the same as the EEC.

I've been around since the 50s and I know what ASEAN is, thanks.

Driving into Pattaya there is (or was, there are so many Chinese tour buses parked everywhere now that it's impossible to see the sides of the roads) a big sign put up by the municipality proudly proclaiming that Pattaya is ready for ASEAN.

They seem to understand the meaning and the sentiment of the expression without needing to give chapter and verse.

Making people return to their home country just to get a visa seems particularly petty and pointless and backward, especially in an era of economic and social expansion and the facilitation of travel between countries. Some people haven't spent more than a couple of months in their home country in the whole of the last 40 years. I am one of them. Luckily I am not Asian or African and, for now, my retirement extension is easy to obtain here.

whistling.gif If you visit many Thai consulate or embassy sites for Thai visa advice you will often see a list of countries that must get Thai Visas in their own country.

It has been that way for many years, but it wasn't always enforced as it is being enforced now.

It is not a new story, just a stricter enforcement of the old policy.

Something else, just for information.

On 10 June 2015 I as an American tried to get a double entry tourist visa in Penang.

6 months ago that worked.

In June I was told that Penang would no longer issue anything but single entry tourist visas unless you had a Malaysian resident I.D. card which effectively means you must be a Malaysian to get other than a Thai single entry tourist visa form the Penang Thai consulate now.

The screams in the U.K. are going to be very loud when some of the other countries in the Eurozone start putting restrictions on the free travel from the U.K to other areas in Europe by U.K. citizens for the purpose of work in those Eurozone countries.

I give it 3 years before that happens.

Maybe you paid extra to an agent or something. I've been to Penang in 2012 or so and already they were giving only single entry, that is the same as you can read in any thread here.
