Predawn fire in Samrong Nua kills two persons

SAMUT PRAKARN: -- Two persons died when a fire broke out at a four-storey commercial row house building in Samrong Nua district of Samut Prakarn province on Friday morning.

One female victim died when she jumped out from the balcony of the fourth floor room of the building which houses Saha Mongkol Insurance Co’s branch office and a dress shop in the Thippawal housing estate.

Another man, identified later as Ramnarong Voksungnern ,18, died from suffocation when he was trapped on the deck floor.

Samrong Nua police said the woman was seen shouting for help on the balcony.

Residents on the ground responded her call but asked her to await for the fire truck to arrive.

But as flames started to leap out to the balcony, she decided to jump down. She was immediately rushed by charity foundation rescue workers but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Over a dozen fire trucks arrived and spent over two hours before they could put it under control.

Two other persons were also injured for jumping down from their rooms.

Samrong Nua police investigators said the fire started first from the dress shop on the ground floor and then quickly raged adjacent room which buses an insurance office, and to upper floors where several rented rooms were occupied.

Electrical short circuit was suspected to be the cause of the fire.

Being very pedantic, why two persons - person is singular. Two people is correct and journalists should know this!!!
