Admin of a website

Featured Replies

If I live in Thailand, do I need a work permit to be the admin of a website ? Reading the rules, it would appear that I do ?

If it was as an administrator of a website (aka webmaster) it would require a work permit.

That is the typical case of online "work", which will stir another round of debate here.

By the way in the case mentioned, consider that Thai law does not distinguish between "administering" and "moderating" on a website. Both activities require effort, and both can be unpaid, although that has no influence for Thai law. So I don't think that providing advice on a blog or forum is any different that keeping the same site working.

I think the OP will find better advice in using good old common sense rather asking for advice here, that can't be official and can't be final, despite the intense scaremongering of some people quoting a law of which they don't understand neither letter or intention.

A off topic post made withe the intention of derailing the topic has been removed.

I have 4 registered websites at the moment. They are all in my name, and as such would make me owner and admin as no other name has been submitted for that position.

No intention of changing this as they have been running for years now, but this is the first time I have heard this question raised.

As a note, the websites do not generate income or are affiliated with any other organization. They are for all accounts and purposes personal sites (one of which is only used for the email addresses).

I would have to ask how many other foreigners are in the same position? Or are websites deemed as too '90's' or '2000's' now-a-days...................wink.png
