I wouldnt employ him solely on the basis that he starts sentences with the word "Totally"

And he's a "teacher"? Let's hope it's not English that he teaches.

It's indicative of a larger issue. When it comes to private companies I prefer they not be run by Thais.

Hello !

Last I noticed was this IS THAILAND, so just who would you suggest ought to be running "Private Companies" in THAILAND ??

Not Thais lol.

Berlitz anyone?

I turned down an interview once but afterwards really regretted that I didn't "totally pass" on it.

So you totally blew it and showed totally you were a total fool ? Edited by Soutpeel

Potential employee with bad attitude from the off meets......

Nickel and dime-ing, low-end employer.

It's a match made in heaven. biggrin.png

Give him a break, he is an American so he is allowed to say "totally".

Good luck with the job hunting, you'll need it.

Cant entirely agree with that. I worked 15 years in senior management for a specialist Thai Company and felt more comfortable than the previous 30 years working for a similar specialist company in the UK. The rewards were greater as well.

Maybe I was the lucky one and now retired in Thailand but still keep in regular touch with my previous employer.

I'm glad to hear that it works out for some people.

My experience of Thai business ethics only inspires me to have as little to do with them as possible. That may be my loss, but I doubt it.

And what is your experience ? How many Thai companies have you worked for ? 0?

The funny thing is the posters wants nothing to do with Thai business' yet chooses to live in Thailand

Bizzare is the pull of female anatomy and paid for conpany that strong it makes people move to a country they obviously despise ?

Why should someone who lives here have to be involved in business? I'm retired and glad to be so. I dont work, dont need to work and dont want to work. Especially not here.

I'm certainly not here for local company of any gender, paid or otherwise, though I know that many are, and I never partake of it.

As for despising Thailand, not at all. I'm happy anywhere as long as my living conditions suit me and I have a nice view from my balcony.

So again, you have no experience working with Thai or for Thai, yet here you are making statements about working with Thai and for Thairolleyes.gif

I made statements about Thai business ethics, which I do have experience with just from living here.

I've also been on the board of a Thai company which has involved dealing with many other Thai companies.

None of the above involved employment.

I've been offered a job teaching government agencies.

Also, I'm contemplating taking a deal teaching in Phuket with accommodations paid. However, I like BKK.

Having the classic American accent is not bad.

You guys are idiots.

As I said and as this shows, you need to change that attitude you have.

Actually maybe you don't. There are so many schools in Thailand utterly desperate for farang teachers that anyone, I mean anyone, can get a job. Don't expect to get rich though.

Best of luck with your job hunting.

What does Thai business behavior have to do with working IN Thai company?

Surely, even an idiot understands the differencerolleyes.gif

You were on the board? really? I thought you were a carpenter all your life, how did you manage to get on the board?whistling.gif

For a presentation, there are a few things one can ask a company if they will provide on the day: OHP for your slides (no you can't ask for a bunch of OHT's), projector screen, internet access if using your laptop and so on. Sometimes at presentations, interviewees would provide printouts of their slides and presentation notes. Nobody ever asked to use a printer. that is something you sort out prior to presentation day. Things that went wrong: all the OHP's broken, OHP bulb blew, no working power points in the presentation room, internet access slowing down to a crawl. What to do now? Always take OHT's as backup, but nowadays it is possible to carry a portable projector to work with one's laptop assuming that nothing is working at the place on is going to. If equipment provided is all singing, all dancing then you don't need to carry anything, but sod's law will hit one some day. The OP blew himself up over something trivial. Try not to pull the same stunt next time.
