August 3, 201510 yr Hi My wife has previously visited the U.K in 2010. It appears the visa process has changed since then. Also we have an adopted son now too. We plan to visit the U.K from 19/12/15 - 2/1/16. Last time my mother sponsored my wife with a letter of invitation, copy of passport and house deed which was sent to us first then we submitted it. Now it appears there is a form (SU07). I understand my mother fills that out. Does she then send it to my wife for her to submit? Do we need form SU07 x2, one for wife and one for adopted son? As there is nowhere to add a child/second person on form SU07. Or can he just be mentioned in my mother's letter of invitation? Also, with regards to our adopted son he has to submit a separate application for a visa in which we are mentioned as the legal guardians, is that correct? I seem to remember in old application form that any dependent children were just mentioned in wife's application. Lastly, does anyone have a link/pdf/doc of the new form? Cheers
August 3, 201510 yr Do a search of this forum for SU07 and you will see a number of threads where it is stated that this is not required for a visit visa. I have done (successfully) 5 visit visas in the past 5 years without this.
August 3, 201510 yr It is an out of date form. At one stage there were plans to make the sponsor responsible for the applicant. Not implemented as pretty unworkable! Main change is that everything is on-line at visa4UK. Limited changes really, just a new website to produce the form. Worth checking if the adoption has allowed your son to apply for a British passport as there will be no need for a visa: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/guidance-on-how-adopted-children-can-become-british/intercountry-adoption-and-british-citizenship
August 4, 201510 yr If your son does need a visa then it is a separate application for him with appropriate fee.
August 4, 201510 yr Form SU07 has never applied to visitors. Your mother should write an invitation letter offering accommodation as she did before. If she is also contributing to the costs of the visit then she should also say so, and include evidence of her ability to do so such as the last 6 months bank statements. A copy of her passport is not needed. Procedures have changed a bit since 2010; see Standard Visitor visa You may find UK visit visa basics helpful, though some of the links contained therein are now out of date the basics are the same.
