Renew Thai Wife Extension

Featured Replies

I need advice:

My passport was about to expire in a few months. My 'thai wife' visa extension expires August 22, 2015, and my intention was to time my passport renewal with my visa renewal. I heard from the US Embassy that there may be delays in 'new passport' applications due to some computer glitch. However, my new Passport came early (today, August 4th).

When would be the best time to renew my 'thai wife' visa extension? Immediately, or wait till it is closer to the expiry date (Aug. 22)...?

(yes I have the letter from the Embassy asking for transferring visa to new passport)

Thanks!

At most immigration offices it is possible to renew an extension of stay 30 days in advance of expiry

Hi 'nowretired'

Thanks for that. On the flip side, are there any penalties if I wait closer to expiry date (Aug 22), because old passport is now stamped 'cancelled' as of today.

None that I am aware of.

Your current extension of stay remains valid even though it is contained in an expired passport.

I would suggest you have your stamps transferred to the new passport ASAP.

Leaving these matters to the last minute is rarely a good idea!
