Ambiguity has its value in the LoS. A simple "show me your ID" would not allow the freedom to judge the value to be extracted from each "offending" venue.

Glad to read that I can still not buy alcohol when I have time to go shopping in the early morning when the traffic is still reasonable.

I have to sneak out during my lunch hour to buy a bottle of wine, hide it in my backpack to prevent nosy colleagues from thinking I am some kind of alcoholic and when I come home at night put it in the freezer to get it on room temperature. No way I can drive to my supermarket at night here in Bangkok.

as history teaches, the consequence of banning anything is the ground for illegal activities, just enforce the law and punish very hard anybody who sells alcohol to underage teens, that might do it!

Troubling is not the word.........open to all sorts of abuse. The government want to stamp out corruption the first step is having clear rules and laws that people understand and comply with.

These poor university students. Exhausted after the days studies, they need to drink and relax.

Next step of course for Thailand is the 'gap' year, where poor parents have to fund the students trip around the world in order to shake off the trauma of studying at university for three years.

Cynical? Of course. I suppose it's an age thing where you used to go to school until Friday and start work on Monday. Mind you, I accept there were plenty of jobs in those days.
