On Le Tour de Sid's (4th October), we're worried some participants might fail their drugs and alcohol targets, but luckily we have colleagues who will make it up for them

I won the Grand Leeds University Coke drinking competition in 1962. I admit to cheating. After the qualifying rounds, I went round the back of Leeds Town Hall, put my finger down my throat & puked up the previously consumed cola. I went into the final with a raging thirst and won by a short head. 1st prize was a bottle of Bacardi + 6 cans of coke. The Statute of Limitations on this crime expired in 1997 and in any case my mates consumed the prize within two hours of receiving it.

I feel a lot better for getting that off my chest - it has weighed heavily on my chest all these years.

As I recall this sort of state organised cheating was common knowledge back in the days of USSR, seems nothing has changed other than a few countries can now disassociate themselves from the Russians.

It was also common in the USA. In the 84 Olympics how many athletes in the 100m final later were banned for drugs. 7 of the 8.

But more common in sports like weightlifting and cycling etc.

Athletics everyone of the say top 200 are doping. As well the bicycle racer, runner, etc.

All....unless there is a genetic freak who is actually a sick person.

The not doped Tour the France biker are all on the infusion over night and up to the team they have to wake up in the middle of the night to pedal a bit or they have a heart monitor which decide if they have to wake up.

As their blood has such a high viscosity that they may get problems with low heart rate. Do you thing that comes from normal training?

Why do we still brake world records in sports that are for hundred years?
