Looking for computer stick recommendation

Featured Replies

Hi. I'm considering getting a computer stick but here in Kanchanaburi if you mention one you are either met with 'mai mee' or a blank state.

A trip into Bangkok is no problem so looking for info on what is available, how much and where.

It will be used for very simple browsing that's all. No video streaming or gaming.

Windows is a must.

Thanks for reading.

I saw an 'Intel Compute Stick' in one of the local computer shops about a week or two ago.

It looks like a USB device, from what I've heard about them you plug it into a TV via a HDMI cable and it's a whole computer.

I saw this on sale in the local 'JIB' computer store here in Hua Hin. JIB are all around the country so if you find a local branch I'm sure they will be able to order one for you without needing to go to Bangkok.

Why not just order it online?

Note: don't be tempted to go for the clones (e.g. meego) - they use a trial version of WIndows - only the "Intel Compute Stick" comes with Windows full (Bing Edition).

At far as I've seen , even a non genuine or unlicensed windows 7 or 8 can be upgraded to 10 and

You end up with a fully legit copy

That might be a cheap workaround

I thought that MS had already stated that only genuine versions of windows are eligible for the 'free' upgrade.

All the Thai laptops I've upgraded or helped people upgrade didn't have a single issue and none of them were legit windows before but they are now legit win10 now

If they ever become locked down a windows 7 ultimate disk is 100thb so we will simply revert back to that

OK but what we're talking about here is trial version of Windows... i.e. ones that are designed to stop working after 60/90 days

The genuine Intel Compute Stick comes with a genuine, non-expiring version of Windows 8.1 - which is able to be upgraded to Win10.
