Is it possible to renew your driver's license in a different province than that which you live?

I currently have residency and medical certs from Phuket (where I currently reside) but will be in Bangkok for about a month and would like to renew my 1 year license while I'm there, if possible. Worst case, I will wait until I return to Phuket.

Also - It seems that with an ED visa, Phuket will only renew a 1 year license for another 1 year vs. a 5 year - should I expect the same in Bangkok?

It's not possible.

I live in Nong Khaem so had to report to my district (Bangkok Area 2) . I had previously tried at the main office in Chatuchak (Area 1) and was turned away.

Yes, not possible.

On the upside, no 1-year licenses are given out anymore, all changed to 2 years
