Karma For Today's Traveler

I recently picked up a book called Karma for Today's Traveler at Wat Suandok. From the title I wasn't expecting much but as it turns out it takes a very complex subject (karma) and explains it beautifully.

It's a translation and adaptation of the original Thai version, ผลบุญ คือกำลังชีวิด, The Result of Merit: Life Force, by Phra Bhasakorn Bhavilai of Wat Fai Hin, ably assisted by David Freyer, a longtime American resident of Chiang Mai.

The book answers a lot of questions about karma that we see regularly here in the Buddhism branch of tv.com.

It's available for free (donations gratefully accepted) at the 'Monk Chat' room at Wat Suandok, in both the English and Thai versions.

By the way, the overnight introductory Buddhism programme at Wat Suandok has changed its schedule from Sunday to Tuesday. The programme begins at 2.15pm on Tues and runs till around 2.15pm on Wed. Accommodations are provided at a new meditation centre outside the monastery. It's free.
