August 10, 201510 yr I have an Extension of stay based on retirement till September 21st using the 800k in a Thai bank method, I left in June and am going back tomorrow, I got a re-entry stamp at the Airport. My problem is that due to my own poor management I didn't top up my 800k in the bank, it's about 600k, it will be topped up to 800k as soon as I get back tomorrow, I know it is supposed to be seasoned for 3 Months, and I'll only have 5-6 weeks seasoning, is it better to skip the re-entry part of my retirement Visa and just get a 30 Day VOA at the Airport and then apply for the 60 day extension for retirement, or use the re-entry and go to the Immigration Office and see what can be done. I suppose anything is possible. Will I have to go out and come back in again if I use my re-entry stamp till my Visa runs out on 21st September to start the process again, or can I get some kind of extension to allow my money to season if I keep my retirement extension till 21st September. I use Jomtien Immigration. Hope you can understand what I'm on about.
August 10, 201510 yr Do you have any income you could get proof of from your embassy to make up the 200k short fall. There is no seasoning requirement for the combination method. Using your re-entry permit would give you more time to get thing sorted out. Immigration also might do the visa exempt entry since you have a valid re-entry permit. There is not an extension you can get other than one that would give you 7 days to leave the country. If you got a visa exempt entry you could convert it to a 90 day non immigrant visa entry. You can apply for it at Jomtien immigration and it would be sent to Bangkok for approval. You would have to do it within 15 days of entry and have the 800k baht in the bank on the date you apply.
August 10, 201510 yr Author Thanks Joe, the Embassy route is out as I am not eligible for a Pension yet. So in fact I'm better off getting a Visa Exempt entry tomorrow and starting the process afresh withing a couple of weeks, as if I use my re-entry I will have to leave the country and come back in on a Visa exempt entry and start the process then. Is that right ?
August 10, 201510 yr It will depend upon the officer when you enter the country whether you will be stamp in based upon your re-entry permit or get the visa exempt entry. If you get the visa exempt entry you could do the conversion. If you enter using your re-entry permit you will need to leave on or before the 21st of September. You could go out and re-enter to get a visa exempt entry then do the conversion or make a trip to Vientiane to get a single entry non-o visa.
August 11, 201510 yr Author Thanks Joe, Came in and was stamped till 21st September, I'll relax for a few weeks and head out of Thailand somewhere for a few days next month then start over again. Thanks again Joe.
