If you fly into Lao you will do your Lao Visa in Luang Prabang. Thai Baht (1500), Lao Kip or USD (35) or other currency is okay. Get your seat in the back of the ATR 72 and beat feet to the Immigration booth. Have your Lao Visa form Completed with copies and passport photo. Be ready or you will be stuck in the back of the line. You have to go through security again so the only liquids accepted are those purchased in Duty Free Shop and sealed in a Duty Free bag.

Thai Baht ONLY is required for payment on the day of pick up.

This is the only Visa Application form accepted: http://vientiane.thaiembassy.org/upload/pdf/Visa%20Application%20Form_new_V_14_7_2558.pdf

On the form:

Address in Lao PDR...is your Hotel Name or other.

Date of Arrival in Thailand...is the date you intend to return to Thailand.

Name and contact of Guarantor in LaoPDR.....is SELF.

Name and contact of Guarantor in Thailand.....is SELF.

The Visa processor I met is not there to cheat you. If you want to use one... use discretion. They can be helpful but I did mine with ZERO assistance.

Tuk Tuk can be arranged to take you, wait for you and return you to Hotel. Don't be a Cheap Charlie but get a fair price. *80,000 Kip to take me from Anou Paradise to Consulate and back is fair money in my estimation.

These are for us citizens only.

These what? The above is some list of practicalities when applying in Vientane, location that the OP forgot to mention. He also did not mention any of the actual documents necessary.

As far as the documents required go, none of the documents I had were notarized with exception to the "Affidavit of Income" from US Consulate in Chiang Mai. No bank book was provided as I don't have a bank in Thailand and it is not a mandatory requirement.

"Proof of Income" is the key. If any further clarifications are needed please reply.

Ubon Joe is doing a great job with this and most of my research prior to arrival in VTE came from him and the forum.

Then it dawned on me....duh! This wasn't exactly like what I experience in my numerous times going through the process....

With that said...I wasn't there so there you are......

It was not such an ordeal MILT. It was quite easy. I was simply trying to provide some of the finer details and correct some of the misinformation. Maybe the title is wrong as the process and requirements should be near the same for all.

Someone made comments about me flying in. To each his own. Time is money in my book. A bus ride to Nong Khai is 13 hours from my home here. I came in early, enjoyed the sites , sampled the local talent and enjoyed some comfort food at Ray's Grille. Yes I can afford it even though my industry is in a huge slump.

I really owe my success to thorough research of the process. Most of it coming from the forum and UJ. The travel success is my own. The only hiccup was Luang Prabang. I wrongly assumed Laos visa would come in VTE. Now that I have crossed that bridge it will be easier going back.

I hope my post has been helpful to those who have never been. The negative comments and criticism don't phase me in the least. It just shows that some will piss on anything and they all can KMA!

Next best move.

Now that I have the Non Imm O my next plan is to travel to Mae Sai for a re-entry permit.

I commute with in Asia Pacific for work and have a possible assignment in September, returning to Thailand by October. I will need to extend my visa within the last 30 days of the 90 days to my understanding.

The attached list is for Visa Extension based on Support Thai Wife. This was obtained at Chiang Rai Arbittor office where they also do immigration work. Same place wife renewed Thai passport.

Is anyone familiar with this process? Will this get me a 12 month extension?

Any constructive or helpful comments? Paz please excuse yourself from input unless it is positive or helpful.post-11261-14394645057923_thumb.jpg
