I would urge everyone that lives here to hurry to their local temple and pray daily to prevent the DROUGHT/ FLOOD situation, this is becoming very serious here as many farmers and their villages are becoming DRY/ FLOODED and need your help. The government will try to help by PUMPING / SUCKING water in and out where it is needed / not needed!

And, if the farmers cannot grow rice, grow those sticky weeds, or buy a fish, maybe marry a foreigner, I don't know, just don't ask the government for any real sort of help, we have better things to do, like worry about alcohol sold to 5 year olds.

Admire your conviction of drinking all the alcohol that may have been given to 5 year olds........................coffee1.gif

Your imaginary fairies and ghosts are very good at controlling DROUGHT/ FLOOD situations, but no good at all at keeping 5 year olds from drinking. Especially not the 5 year olds who post drunk on TVF.

Cheers.

OK facepalm.gif

I'll sacrifice a bottle (or two) of sacramental wine in front of my shrine while thinking for the helpless poor farmer.

It won't help them, but it is a noble act.

I would urge everyone to abandon the temples and religion per se and start to use some common sense, build more dams and do a nationwide network of irrigation. Thailand has plenty of water but it seems Hi Speed trains and more temple building is the priority, if the temples were designed as dams it would make more sense but hey ho roll on the stupidity.

PS I have two boreholes i dont give a s**t

How about we place some of these magical statues at the edges of the usually flooded areas. These who stay in departure of the airport, they helped there getting rid of ghosts laugh.png

Sounds like a Bible-thumper relocated to Thailand. Prayer directly affects living beings, mother nature and science. Yep! Reminder to Op: Buddhists have no imaginary deity to pray to that does miracles if you pray hard enough. Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition as the Dixie Chicks song goes....yee-haw! Keep on praying to your imaginary friend Op, as you'll surely change the world for the better that way for sure.

No Buddhists do the same.....Most probably not exactly the original teaching but they do.....

Praying every day at the shrine for finding a rich husband and similar is VERY common.

Yes similarly praying (asking, hoping, wishing) for things, but not praying to a "god" to grant and make prayers wishes happen. Buddhists do not pray "to Buddha" as a deity.

I do not know if they pray "to Buddha", but they definitely pray to several dead monks. One monk is good for getting a baby, one is good for getting lucky with money, etc etc.. And they direct ask them for help. Not unlike the holy person in Roman Catholic.

My Buddhist wife always tells that is very unbuddhist.

And that does not even include the big business with talisman which are good for several different things...holding the talisman and praying for getting rich is one stupid aspect the Christians don't have (or at least it didn't come to my attention yet).

yes finding the virgins is a bit tough. But it doesn't say that the virgins shouldn't be ugly and obese. I think McDonalds and KFC is doing a great job keeping some of the girls virgin.
