Dependent Visa and border runs

Featured Replies

Hi, I have searched high and low and couldn't find an answer to this. I and my wife will be retiring next year. Myself using the OA retirement visa with 800k bank account in my name and my wife using the follower/dependent visa option.

I know that I simply have to report every 90 days, no need for border runs, but I cant get to the bottom of what requirements my wife will have to meet. Does she have to do the border runs every 90 days? or does she do the same as I do and simply report every 90 days?

If she has a Visa from a Thai Consulate she does border runs.

If she has an extension from Immigration in Thailand she makes 90 day reports.

If your wife got a multiple entry non-o visa you would have to leave every 90 days but there is no need for her to get one.

She can get a single entry non-o visa and apply for an extension of stay as your dependent at immigration (new rules as of August last year). She would just do 90 day reports at immigration like you will need to do..
