So the official announcement was on Friday. The one in Thailand specified release date on 21st of August. However I see people all over the facebook posting pictures that they bought one already. I live in Phayao so there aren't any shops to check here, I popped to dtac few days ago they looked puzzled when I asked them about it.

Now official SAmsung Thailand Website LISTS 64GB version for 29,990 BHT, however not a single shop knows anything about it. Where can one find 64 GB version?

AIS has the 32GB

Yes I know that, but I'm looking for 64 GB version. 32 is too small. Getting 32 GB version isn't a problem at the moment, while 64 is nowhere to be found.

And the point is? I think every person can have their own preferences, Samsung makes a lot of phones and not every single phone is built the same. Obviously premium ones are a better quality. Over the years I used many phone and OS'es and there isn't such a thing as perfect phone.

We do need a brain to work out idioms. here is what wouldn't touch with a barge pole means:

Yep. definitely need more than fingers to use a phone:

I've read many online forums and they all say the same. Samsung are slow at releasing software updates. Premium phone or not, I am talking about Smartphones not the ancient mobile phones with a 1Mega Pixel Camera. If a smartphone comes with a software release date of Feb 2014, then its a recent release Smartphone, so you would think that the manufacturer releases timely updates (and quality updates when they do release). Not Samsung.

I think Samsung should concentrate on reliability, dependability, workability, usability, rather than aim for perfection.

Have a read of this:

Sales of the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge:

have been worse than expected, and Samsung has just announced that it will adjust pricing, while it was discussing its disappointing financial results for the latest quarter.

No Wonder!.

That doesn't mean all their phones are bad.

If you followed news you should know that Samsung, Google, HTC all signed up. To release monthly updates for their phones.

Signing-up is one thing, delivering (quality updates) is another.
Companies need to deliver to become successful, and to stay successful.

Samsung Note 5 with 32 GB storage is a joke. The Galaxy S6 can be bought with 128 GB, even in Thailand. And like the S6, the Note 5 cannot use an SD card. So why does Samsung only supply the 32 GB model?

The iPhone 6plus has also up to 128 GB, is Samsung so stupid to seriously handicap their new model?

I would immediately but the Note 5 with 128 GB, but I am certainly not buying the 32 GB mini Note5

There are always Samsung haters in every thread.

Anyway where to find 64gb model? I hope it will appear on 21st august.

64 should be enough for me. I didn't have sd in a phone since s1 and that one fried it I lost all the data beyond recovery. Internal memory is always faster sd is a bottleneck that slows down the interface and compromises security even Google said that.

Plus new fast memory controller are not compatible with sd cards

I bought a Samsung Note 3 this year, so am a little behind the curve here. I think on release of the Note 5 specs I am more likely to go for a Note 4 as my next model as the Note 5 has not got removable battery or expandable memory.

I would think removable batteries will be less an issue now with very small power packs of 3000 to 6000 mAh readily available. They are no less convenient to carry than a spare battery would be and are more versatile as they can be used on any number of devices.

AS I said before it is like beating an old dog. There were millions of people saying samsung phones have cheap design, then they made premium design and now people complain again that it is not good. What exactly do people want? It is impossible to made solid device and design with removable back.

we are not in 2008 anymore. There is a quick charging function, wireless charging, you can pick up 30,000 mah power bank on lazada for 400 bht. Plus, screen is more energy efficient, CPU also. People are getting same if not better battery life from note 5. You will see that as time goes by less and less phones will come up with SD or removable back. Apple never bothered, google is advising not to. With android M you wont be able to transfer apps to SD at all and each SD will be encrypted.

New memory controllers like samsungs FMC 2.0 is not compatible with SD cards. Either faster speed or lags

Anyway guys, please keep checking stores for 64GB version if anyone sees one let me know. Keeping my fingers crossed on 21st..

I've got a Note 2 and still very happy with it.

* On removable battery, very occasionally (once every 3 months) the phone might freeze with an app running and get warm. The only solution I find is to remove the battery as the phones buttons freeze as well. * How would this be handled with a non removable battery Note 5 type model??

I think removable batteries are still the best way, a powerpack just charges a dead battery where carring a spare in a bag, quick swap out and you are good to go again.

I have a Note 3 and use 2 batterys great combo

I guess note 2 released in 2012 so a lot has changed in those years. I had HTC One M7 that never froze on me. However having said that removing battery is not the only way to reset your phone and not the most convenient. Press volume up and power button for 3 seconds and its done.

Yes but you saying it like you don't have to charge batteries ever. I saw my friend doing it at work constantly fiddling with a wall plug charger putting his 3 batteries on charge switching between them back and fourth. You still need to charge dead batteries at some point.

Plus all modern phones have quick charge options and wireless charging. I come to work and next to my PC I have wireless charger on my desk for my Lumia 930 so its always topped up. With quick charge on note it goes to 60% in 30 mins and it is compatible with my nokia wireless charger.

More times that not a single battery lasts me a day but i have a battery in a chargeable case thats always fully topped up and if it isnt then its done over night while sleeping and dreaming of the Note 6

Samsung has totally ruined the Note 5 with no SD card and no removable battery. Just buy the Note 4 and save 12,000 baht.

Actually, I wouldn't say totally ruined. The market is dictating which way to go and those of us who would prefer the separate features are probably a dying breed. However since the Note 4 is going to be on the market for a few years more then it is not really an issue. Assuming I'm around I will probably buy a Note 4 in 2017 in Hong Kong for a low price as I did with the Note 3 this year. Hell the Note 3 and 4 have 3gb of RAM and the iphones are still at 1.

I went back to the UK in 2010 thats when Original Galaxy S cameout, that was the last time I used SD. At some point it became unreadable on any device even the shop could not recover my photos. After that I never bothered, every time you would power on it will spend quite some time scanning media on SD and overall giving lag while operating the OS. Some say it is more secure than cloud, really? So if someone steals your phone or you loose it, is that more secure? For me 32gb was enough before, now I go for 64. I do not store movies or 4K videos (for a good bitrate 4k video SD will not be fast enough) on my phone, most of my stuff gets backed up online at night while charging. Some I will watch on wifi or 3g or I will transfer a few files for my watching, never have I came across a though I need a 128GB sd card in there.

The days of SD's and removable batteries are ending. I wouldn't invest into a Note 4 which is already over a year old.

The fact is you can wait for Note 6 which will have 4K screen for sure, but they will not go back to SD card or removable battery. Apple sold millions without both of those things, and believe it or not BUT thats the audience samsung is going for. they are majority and majority makes money for them. Power users probably account for 1% of overall consumer base.

Samsung is clearly taking customers for a ride. They are going for the herd.

I remember reading a recommendation here on TV Forums - Lenovo Smartphone - No SD RAM Slot
Also check out:
This Lenovo has 32 GB ROM:
No warranty provided!. Wouldn't recommend buying a product like this advertised without warranty.... Something fishy about selling a brand new phone without a manufacturer warranty.

Wouldn't touch a Samsung phone with a barge-pole. Horrible updates.

I have a Galaxy S5 very happy with it and I am very happy with kitkat and don't want to update to Lollipop. BTW what kind of phone do you own?

IPhone most likely.

If the phone is sold without warranty its most likely grey import.

I stay away from Lenovo have laptop Lenovo had main board replaced 2 times in first 4 months

I bought my Samsung S5 from the Samsung Factory shop. I bought the 5 because the 6 is not waterproof and you can't change the battery. I could have purchased it for less on line or at another shop but prefer to go legit. My wife bought her Samsung from the DTS shop so again legit.

It is quite 'normal' buying a grey import in Hong Kong without a manufacturer's warranty. What you get is the retailer 1 year warranty for what its worth. Not fishy and i suspect that Lazada is selling a similar thing. Grey imports are quite a bit cheaper than full warranty sales and in the end its up to you as they say which way you want to go. Actually one of the shops at Pattaya Central Festival was selling some grey import Apple phones this year. US market products I was told.

I've never had a Samsung Laptop, so cannot comment on this. I recommend HP.

On topic: Some members are posing questions before reading the full thread. I've already said in Post #6, my opinion is not just based on personal experience:

For those who are able to use their foreign SIMS after purchasing a phone from a Samsung Dealer or Telecoms Service provider - Good for you!.

Also, if you can afford the Samsung Dealer or mobile operator price - Good for you X 2.

For a tourist or someone not living in Thailand, a retailer warranty can be tricky. If something goes wrong, they need to be in Thailand to get it fixed by that retailer. (unless the retailer is global and their shop abroad is willing to fix it).

Whereas, with the manufacturers warranty, its got the backing of the brand name. Just need to ensure that it's an International Manufacturer Warranty.

For locals, I read that unless you know that the retailer will deliver on the warranty, its a definite no, no. I read it here:

If the phone does everything you want it to well the way you bought it why would you want to update? For example Lollipop messes up some things I use with Kitkat so I don't want to update. Updates are a very small part of overall performance and I've found Samsung updates to be available if you want to get them anyway. I'd suggest saying that you read something on the internet is not very convincing data.
