I have a 1year visa now but will expire in January. But I need to make a non o based on that im parent to a child here.. so I will go to laos and make that. But the thing I wonder is if I can cancel my visa that I have now in Laos or I have to do it here in Thailand .

Are you asking about getting a non immigrant O visa because you have something else now? Post is not clear as you do not cancel visas - only extensions of stay.

What type of visa do you have now?

Visas can only be cancelled at an embassy or consulate.

If you have a multiple entry non immigrant visa from an embassy or consulate you can use it for an entry up to the date it expires for a new entry.

If you plan on getting a multiple entry non-o visa Savannakhet you may not get one for being the parent of a Thai unless you take the entire family with you when you apply for it.

I was thinking to make the non b 1year first because I have workpermit. But the thing is that im scared im not in thailand when I have to renew it as im traveling alot.

You can easily get a multiple entry non-o based upon marriage. Getting one as a parent is harder.

If you have 8 months left on your work permit you could a multiple entry non-b in Penang.

You cannot cancel your one year extension based upon marriage unless you get a divorce or leave the county and then enter without a re-entry permit.

If you have a valid re-entry permit after getting the visa the immigration officer might insist on using the re-entry permit instead of the visa.
