Farangdanny
We have three dragon fruit plants. For seven years, we have had 15/20 fruits from them. But this year, we have three crops. 29 fruits last month, now another 12 and there are over 100 new fruits starting now !!!!!

junglechef
We have one plant and this is the second piece of fruit it bore which I picked yesterday and should be ripened and ready to eat in a few days. Not sure when the first one came out, maybe a year ago, but the flower for this one was taken exactly a month ago to the day. I actually prefer the looking at the flower to eating the fruit, just not one of my favorites especially with all the great choices here! Just looking at the fruit it sure does look like a dragon's head Edited August 20, 2015 by junglechef
daoyai
The flowers are lovely, "night blooming cerus' I believe they are called in the landscape trade. though the fruit is rather bland it adds color (if red) to fruit salads and smoothies as well as vitamins. FolkGuitar
I can't taste them at all. Neither the red nor the white variety. My wife loves the red ones, and I keep trying, hoping in vain to get some flavor, but all I get is texture and moisture. I wonder if it is similar to paprika that way... a genetic ability to taste. Neither my mother nor brother were able to taste paprika, but my father an I were able to.
heybruce
The good ones are sweet, the not so good ones are bland. They're relatively low calorie, have vitamin C, and the red ones are supposed to be rich in antioxidants. They also have a lot of fiber, they do a good job of clearing me out. elektrified
I also like the red ones. The white ones have no taste at all - to me.
NickJ
If they tasted like they look , great.....but they are so bland....for fibre I would rather eat binder paper.
Konini
I've never understood why people gush about these things; I find them to be completely tasteless although I admit that cut and uncut they look quite good. It just strikes me as being a bit of a pointless fruit.
junglechef
No gushing on this thread so far but a lady selling them at the market told me they were "alloy mak mak"

dingdongrb
So how difficult is the plant to grow/maintain and how many years until it bears fruit?
