Pet Euthanasia

Featured Replies

My pet cat (who I took in as a stray about a year ago) has recently been diagnosed with chronic kidney failure. Managing her disease by force feeding, subcutaneous hydration and administering other medications is a huge challenge. Her health is failing rapidly and when I asked my vet about the possibility of euthanizing her when all quality of life is gone, she informed me that, in general, vets in Thailand do not euthanize animals - no matter how much they're suffering. Does anyone know any vets that are willing to euthanize. I can't stand watching my cat suffer. I'm not quite ready to do anything yet and will persevere with her treatment, but I just want the peace of mind knowing that there's a humane option if and when the time comes.

I live in Ban Phe, Rayong - easy access to Pattaya and Bangkok also.

I'd call Juang Ake Pet Hospital, 038 233 200

They are just past Makro and before Tesco on Sukhumvit in Pattaya. I believe there was a post in the Pattaya forum about this. I'll try to find it.

It's really sad they don't do this here. I've had to put down a few dogs and it was done on the recommendation of the vet. Hard to do, but a necessary evil.

Best of luck.

OP it looks like you got an answer.

If that's not convenient then look for a Chinese vet.

oops...the name is Muang Ake Pet Hospital. Sorry for the type. I'm pretty sure it's Chinese owned.

I recently had the same problem and found out that the only place in pattaya that will put animals to sleep is Nuern plub wan animal hospital (soi nuern plug wan, coming from sukkhumvit it s on the right hand side, around 200m after the train crossing there is a mini big c. The clinic is located behind big c.). They were very kind and came to my house to put my beloved cat to sleep because, like yours, she was suffering from CKD in it s final stage and i could not bear to let her suffer.

As euthanizing is a very difficult question in Thailand I were very astonished when I read the hospital admission I had to sign for Thonglor Pet Hospital in Bangkok as one of the "admission agreements" (nr. 7) I had to sign mentioned: "It is understood that all pets whether not picked up or claimed by the owner within 7 days after the expected date of pick up will be considered abandoned, the hospital is given authorization to dispose of the abandoned pet(s) as they deem best, including euthanasia (putting to sleep)."

When I asked them just in case of my cat I left for a treatment, which is already 18 years old, I didn't got a strait answer if it's once necessary, and which doctor I can ask! blink.png sad.png
