Dibbler
"Somyot said, "Sometimes there are 20 cameras on the street but only five work. He added, "We have had to waste time to put the dots together." I believe that their CCTV cameras don't work, but that's a different story..... It's not the number of photos received it how you analyse the images you have that tells you the story. I'm sure their Russian and Chinese counterparts have people on staff in the Thailand Embassies with expertise in this area. Why don't they ask for help instead of spouting excuses?? Well fix the bloody cameras and regularly check them.....ooooh wait a minute the money for the other 15 "real" cameras went into someones pocket...and the 15 that don't work are dummy cameras...right...? CapeThai
I am also interested to know what they mean by a "wide bomb". Finding it in a house is significant if this is somehow related to the incident of last Monday. The house will certainly have a "paper trail"... who owns it, who rents it, who has been seen coming and going, who and what else is in the house, and lots of other factors that a competent investigation team could go to work on instead of hassling random farangs. Yeah, that is if they don't go and <deleted> up the whole crime scene beyond collecting evidence Edited August 24, 2015 by metisdead Profanity

sambum
"It was left in the house of a construction worker," he said. "We have deactivated the bomb and will destroy it."BANGKOK (AP) - Police say active grenade found in Bangkok lot, but probably unrelated to deadly bombing . "Police say a construction worker found a grenade buried in land near a major Bangkok road, but they believe it is unrelated to last week's bombing that killed 20. Lt. Sakon Rungkiatpaisarn of Pra Kanong Station said the grenade was found as in a lot on Sukhumvit 81 being prepared for construction on Monday morning. He said they don't know where it came from, but it was unlikely to be linked to the pipe bomb that blew up at a major intersection in the middle of Bangkok." So was it a bomb found in the house of a construction worker, or a grenade buried in land? Once again, the art of misleading quotes from the RTP gets another boost! a99az
Perhaps he meant a "wired" bomb? not a "wide" one I very tried - read bat news too mut They said the leads had gone cold - but this discovery would have been the best source of info that could get. Finger prints, witnesses, clothing, source of materials etc Should be good but alas the bomb squad has cleaned it up and have it in pride of place in the mess. Sviss Geez
Thai Police Find Bomb In Busy Bangkok Road Detectives are still searching for the chief suspect behind last week's deadly blast, but are unsure if he is still in Thailand. Once again, the art of misleading quotes from the RTP gets another boost! Take a media that's bound and determined to be the first with the story, add some words that translate ambiguously, and factor in the desire for some folks to look heroic and others to draw in readers, and I think it's reasonable to wait for a few hours after the story first hits the blogs before jumping to any conclusions. Hardly unique to Thailand... And if this had happened 8 days ago, we wouldn't even be reading about it. Edited August 24, 2015 by impulse

TPI
Well well well! They've had to admit that while there're 20 cameras along the road only 5 of them work! Now who would get the budget for the maintenance of these cameras?? It would appear that the bomber may have had an inkling of the surveilence problems?? Source: http://news.sky.com/story/1540723/thai-police-find-bomb-in-busy-bangkok-road -- skyNews 2015-08-24 The true story, with pictures and all, rather seems to be about an old grenade unearthedon a construction site in Sukhumvit 81! Here SkyNews seems to relay the same false information as in an AFP release from 09.20GMT today. AFP has been publishing false info before, during 'periods of tension' in Thailand, mostly in line with the biased views from Shins/PTP/UDD. Where did they get their 'inspiration' this time...? But from SkyNews, it is pretty unexpected for me! THIS is creating panick, and has a negative influence on (potential) tourists, as it seems to have been spread everywhere, I first read about it on the front page (just under the top title) from the Internet site from the N°1 newspaper in my EU country! 'Freedom of the press' for sure, but...

anon4546543
We really do not know who was responsible for the bomb attack. A tuk tuk driver who carried the suspected bomber said he may have been from the "middle east". I think the real question is that no extremist organisation has claimed responsibility. The whole thing stinks of farce. Everything is possible, but it could be just that, while looking for the big fish, they find some small fish. As weird as it may sound, i still have a hope that they nail the culprits of the Erawan bombing, and if they find other criminals on the way, the more, the better.
