by this logic why don't they ask the man in yellow to show up too cheesy.gif

They actually did.

PM Prayuth said he feared the suspect might be silenced by killing: "I would like to tell the bomber that if he wants to be safe, then he should turn himself in to officials and they will find a way to protect him."

"asking the government to purchase modern up-to-date Biometric scanners which will enable a wide range of screening options such as fingerprints, retinal and photographic scans."

Oink oink going to the trough. Adding insult to injury as this is big opp to get on another gravy train. As mentioned, anyone have details on the brilliant camera purchases of 2014? Should be able to get hidef cameras for just a couple thou apiece, but these guys think they need fingerprint, retinal scans? Lip smacking good!

I didn't think it was possible for the RTP to dumb-down any further, they have proved me wrong again.

It gets more ridiculous by the day... If that was even possible.

Terrorists would go to the trouble to send a diver to the bottom of a canal to fix an explosive device on a timer to explode underwater and do no damage to anything... Even though someone who looks suspiciously like hes dropping a bomb into the water is... Asked to come forward and prove his innocence lol

"He said that he will be asking the government to purchase modern up-to-date Biometric scanners which will enable a wide range of screening options such as fingerprints, retinal and photographic scans."

And then to suggest this would have resulted in catching the suspect just shows his ignorance of the limitations of this technology. The image of the bomber is so low res you cannot get anything from it that would make retinal or photographic scans effective.

Now finger prints could work (possibly from the moto taxi or tuk tuk), but how is it Cambodia has had finger print scanners on the borders for several years now and yet Thailand does not?

Without spending a fortune on the very latest high tech cctv cameras they are not going to get useable images... at least not until they can get that magical CSI software, lol.

"The delay in our investigation is not caused by our incompetence. It is because we don't have modern equipment to aid our work like police in foreign countries. Have you seen Robocop? We don't have those things."

Robocop%20-%20Copy.jpg

What about starting an investigations about whythe CCTvs are either fake or not working and if there is corruption or inadequate management, everybody at the BMA is fired and imprisoned as they are using tax payers monies and yet not providing safety for tax payers.

The police didn't know that their own cameras weren't working? That maintenence budget has long flown the nest.

Number plate readers would be a bigger use...

Men on the streets is what works, we used to get parking tickets of 500 for parking on a frontage Rd outside office and everyone in the office never paid them

Eventually they realised tickets are a waste of time and they brought a chain and run it through the wheel of every bike illegally parked and a cop on each end and one in the middle collecting the money and writing tickets

That worked very well and effective and now we don't Park there, if there is just 1 bike they lift it into a pickup and its taken away

If there's a load, just bring the chain gang along and make everyone pay for it or don't release the bike

...or else what.....

..sadly he is but a blur...

,,,how much money was spent by the previous government on CCTV cameras....

...or were they 'tapped out' after paying for those atomic clocks....and other perks for MP's...

I remember a few years ago, a politician had a few thousand CCTV cameras installed in Bangkok,...but half of them were dummys,....but he charged the govenment for real working CCTV's...... TIT.....this is Thailand !!!!!

Today's fashion tip: White shirts are all the rage!

Seriously ??

So the RTP has no shame right ?

Since they failed to identify and now asking the main in question to come forward to prove he is innocent ?!?!

Simply entertaining

It's sad Thailand has to see an act of terrorism like this before it makes sense to them to have a quality, working CCTV system.

That's odd.

Actually, there should still be almost 50,000 new CCTV Kamers.

All Installed in 2014th

And now 75% do not work?

http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/723126-bma-no-more-dummy-surveillance-cameras-in-bangkok-100000-baht-reward-if/

Good find. Now they should haul those people over the coals and find out where all that money went.

I expect they bought the cheapest rubbish for the retail price of the proper stuff then divvied up the difference.

But they won't of course. They will more likely use this as an excuse to get funding to 'upgrade' the entire system again.

cctv camera's in thailand = 240 dpi webcam from 1996 ?

Great logic.....turn yourself in then we know you didn't do it....

you can check in...but you can never check out.

Thai police tell man in blue to show up to prove his innocence

Which only makes sense if they actually know the identity of this man.

This really is beyond a joke. Making stupid statements like this should be embarrassing. Could there be a problem with the translation?

In the meantime, the "bombers" are laughing as they know the police don't have a clue. I feel all this incompetence is being over publicized.

The RTP seem to have it wrong. "Innocent until proven guilty" is how it works.

Blue boy doesn't have to prove he is innocent.

The RTP has a history of frame up. Let 'em do some work and find him. Then they can frame him . . .

He is still a suspect, or a man of interest. It would be reasonable to interrogate him if they knew who he was.

Turn yourself in to someone that's looking for a scapegoat. Maybe not the best idea.

What a load of shit this is ,,,,In a normal world You are innocent until proven Guilty in a court of Law,,, So F,,k them all and You /the law prove me Guilty,,I get my Legal adviser,,

They have only just found the taxi 1 week after the event. Pretty useless effort that I reckon.

You're jumping the gun. This is not a court case. It is a normal procedure for suspects to be arrested and charged by police.

It's just a bit silly here that police are asking someone who hasn't been identified to turn himself in.

I agree totally, but encouragement from the article they are going to purchase new technology.

A good start would be getting the CCTV upgraded and running as well.

I would not mind paying an airport tax of 500 Bht every time I enter the country if it all went to security and CCTV would soon amount a lot of money.

Better that police/ government do this and start work immediately than charge horses down the street.

Hey man in blue shirt turn yourself in we caught you on one of our mega low resolution CCTV cameras. ermm.gif

"Commenting on developments in the ongoing investigation of the two bombing incidents, he stated that it was yet uncertain whether the suspects or suspects have fled the country as no evidence has yet surfaced to indicate they have actually left."

No sh#t sherlock. You do not even have a clue as to their identities. So how could you know if they have left the country if you dont know who they are. These guys should learn to keep their mouths closed. The old saying " better to say nothing and be thought a fool than opening your mouth and leaving no doubt" comes to mind.

CCTV in Bangkok was installed for TRAFFIC control.. The Traffic Cops sitting in their little A/C Booths talking on their radios and watching tiny monitors.. Changing the Lights every 15 minutes...

The System was NOT installed for Security !!!

Hence Low-Res vs Hi-Res cameras... and many fakes to intimidate drivers!!!!

You can't make a Mink from a Rat !!!
