Former deputy commerce minister Pol Lt-Colonel Banyin Tangpakorn yesterday has his fingerprints recorded before being escorted to apply for the Southern Bangkok Criminal Court

BANGKOK: -- FORMER deputy commerce minister Pol Lt-Colonel Banyin Tangpakorn yesterday morning reported to the Crime Suppression Division (CSD) police to fight allegations of theft, document forgery and taking possession of stolen items in relation to the transfer of Bt300 million shares owned by late construction tycoon Chuwong Saetang. Banyin was later yesterday granted bail by the court after depositing Bt5 million in cash.

Prior to meeting the police, the 52-year-old Banyin said the issuance of a warrant was not a surprise. He denied all the charges against him and vowed to fight the allegations to the end.

Banyin insisted that the share transfer was of Chuwong's own volition and he did not benefit from it. He pointed out that the share transfer had been done from June 8-26, prior to Chuwong's death on June 26, and he asked why Chuwong had not complained about such alleged document forgery. If Banyin had forged the document, he asked, why would Chuwong still play golf with him on the day he died?

He said he would raise these points for the police to investigate and said witnesses or the investigators would be accountable for malfeasance in office under the Criminal Code's Article 157. He also said that those filing charges against him would also face a charge of filing a false report, if the case against Banyin was proved to be untrue.

Banyin also brought several special pens, which came with attached erasers, which he claimed Chuwong always used when signing papers. He said Chuwong wrote "share deposit" and then erased the words to "share transfer" on his own but this was only witnessed by him and Chuwong.

An hour later, Chuwong's relatives urged the CSD officers not to let Banyin out on bail. They also insisted that Chuwong did not use the kind of pens that Banyin identified to sign papers, as claimed by Banyin. They also intended to follow up on Chuwong's autopsy result at Sirindhorn Hospital and the Institute of Forensic Medicine today.

Besides Banyin, arrest warrants were also issued for the two share recipients.

Brokerage-firm employee Uracha Wachirakun-thon, 26, who received more than Bt30 million worth of shares via the account of her mother, Srithara Promma, is facing charges of theft and forgery. Srithara, 52, meanwhile, faces the charge of theft or taking possession of stolen items.

Former "pretty" presenter Kantana Siwathanapon, 26, who received Bt228 million worth of shares, is facing charges of theft, forgery and taking possession of stolen items.

At press time, the three women had not yet contacted the police to arrange to surrender themselves.

Because maybe Chuwong didn't find out about the share transfer until June 26 and when he questioned you about it, you denied it as you are now, and then you conveniently arranged his death. Too bad it's going to take 10 years to get Banyin sent to jail, and then only a short sentence, when he should be quickly convicted as an accessory to murder.

Strange how when an arrest warrant is out the cops don't go and apprehend the people, what kind of rotten system needs 3 suspects to contact the cops to arrange a time to show up for questioning. This country is beyond a joke sometimes. I hope all these greedy <deleted> get the book thrown at them. It is clear as day what has gone on here.

Its entirely possible he is holding onto the table and clenching his buttocks, smiles benignly, as he tries to hold back the tide of liquid he just felt rushing at his sphincter, as he thinks to himself "Sh!t just got real!!!"

Never forget, The country is third world. And always will be!

What's more amazing is that a wealthy family like the Chuwongs have to struggle for any sort of "justice".

One can only assume that the perpetrators have more powerful protectors, but maybe they had to pay a 50% commission?

"Banyin also brought several special pens, which came with attached erasers, which he claimed Chuwong always used when signing papers."

Well, thats not going to be too hard to prove or disprove.

More likely, every document Chuwong signed in Banyin's presence used that "special pen" that Banyin just happened to have at hand, so he could later change.

No mega wealthy guy is going to sign documents, with what amounts to a pencil.

Pressure the girls...they are the key to Banyin's future...

So clearly shown here, is that influential families can make the wheels of justice turn......this case would have been done and dusted had they not not acted.

After being here for 15 years and having more than 20 years of contact with Thailand - nothing surprises me any more , especially when Hi-So is involved.

A handwriting expert could tell in a minute if the signature is by the same person or not....but would a Thai expert risk being murdered by telling the truth against someone who's already involved in a murder case and a former top cop ?
