Changing jobs..

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

So I am under contract with a company at the minute but I have been offered a job with another. I have a non-b visa which expires at the end of September.

I have just received a work permit however I have not been to immigration yet to get an extension of stay based on my work permit.

I have given notice to my current employers and I want to begin working with my new company next month.

Will I have to go to Laos and cancel my non-b visa or can I carry it onto my next job as I have not tied it down to my work permit?!

My original plan was to leave the country. However, if I can move onto my new job with my current non-b visa what would I have to do with my work permit?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I trust you all know how confusing Thai visas can be.

From my experience you will have to get a new Non B. Your W.P. is specific as to the location of your employment.

I did this once and changed provinces for the new job. Kept the Non B and of course now the W.P. was not for the new location. I was technically on overstay to the tune of 17,000 Baht, when Immigration discovered what I had done.

Your new employer should produce the required documentation for the new Non B and W.P.
