Makhuea Pro (มะเขือเปราะ)

Featured Replies

Does MAKHUEA PRO come in a variety of colours, or is it always pale green/white striped?

Thank you for your help.

From just local experience, the pale green/white ones are certainly the most common however they may also sometimes be purple or variegated white/purple. The small yellow ones are called มะเขือขื่น (makhuea khuen) or มะเขือขม (makhuea khohm) = bitter. Not the same as MAKHUEA PRO.

Dear Pla shado,

Thank you very much for your reply. I have been trying to organize Thai eggplants (aubergines) since yesterday. They are so confusing, as the same eggplant is tagged with many different scientific names. I worked on it for ages when I first started the dictionary, but this group is still confusing (trying to link the scientific names).

This helps a lot, because some sites show MAKHUEA KHUEN as being the same as MAKHUEA PRO. Now I know the difference.
