CDC confident new constitution will not be rejected

BANGKOK, 27 August 2015 (NNT) - The Constitution Drafting Committee (CDC) is confident the National Reform Council (NRC) will not vote down the new constitution, urging all to consider whether the new charter is more progressive than its predecessors.

According to the CDC Chairman, Borwonsak Uwanno, he will let the public decide how progressive the new constitution is, as it is a culmination of input from the public as well as that from various groups such as the NRC, the Cabinet, and political groups.

He urged the public to pay close attention to how the new charter addresses individual rights and freedom, citizen participation in politics, and whether it creates long-term stability for future generations.

As the political environment of the country remains divisive, the new constitution has, therefore, been designed to suit Thailand’s democratic context, Mr Borwonsak added.

"CDC Chairman, Borwonsak Uwanno, he will let the public decide how progressive the new constitution is, as it is a culmination of input from the public as well as that from various groups such as the NRC, the Cabinet, and political groups."

But when the major political parties (Dems, PTP) criticized parts of the "charter", Prayut told them to shut up and told the media not to report the objections!.

"Designed to suit Thailand's democratic context". Does he mean based on the "democracies" of China and North Korea or section 44 type democracy?

I think he means that in Thailand the people vote for the wrong party so must not be allowed to continue doing so.

Calling "progressive" doesn't make it so.

The draft won't be voted down the decision has already been made just as the vote on the constitution vote has been made.

They like giving it names like "progressive" and claiming the best constitution Thailand has ever had.

All the while the people that don't like it are being told they don't have the right to criticize or complain and ask for it to be rejected and the media slapped for giving voice to those that call on it to be rejected.

Very few people like the draft and those few do like it will now impose their choices and their style of government and how it will function upon the rest of the nation.

"progressive" yeah rightpost-4641-1156693976.gif

CDC confident new constitution will not be rejected

At first I thought this meant the CDC was confident the people would accept the new constitution, then I realized that it simply meant the CDC is confident the NRC will approve the constitution written at its direction. What a surprise.
