Have been having problems with TV over the past week. Sometimes get the Home Page but can not access forums. Sometimes I can get the forums but when I click on a homepage story I get this:

"This Webpage Has A Redirect Loop" and a little frowny face

Bangkok, True Online ADSL 10mb, Chrome on an HP win 8.1 laptop

This issue is usually associated with the Chrome Browser. Its cookies and locally stored data get out-of-sync or corrupted.

A 'test' to see if this is true would be to try opening the same page in a different Browser

Or to open the same page in Chrome while in incognito mode.

If the 301 "This webpage has a redirect loop" error is only present while using Chrome Browser normally, and not present while in Chrome Incognito Mode, then it's most likely a local cookie issue on your machine.

To clear, try going into

(menu)

Settings

Show advanced settings... (at bottom of page)

...continue to scroll down

Privacy

[ Content settings ] button

Cookies

[ All cookies and site data... ] button

use the search field to locate all cookies associated with the trouble site

click the "X" (delete this item) to remove.

Close and Re-open your browser.

Can't even load the forum today on Chrome. Went to Firefox and after a five minute wait.got "Shockwave plugin has stopped running...blah, blah..........

If I click "close program" I can get a page up, but when I click again...get the shockwave notice again...took 15 minutes to get this thread up and post.

So, both browsers misbehaving on TV.

I'll try the Chrome incognito mode.

Back on Chrome/incognito. Better but still very slow. Get that damned "fonts.googleapis" in my lower taskbar. Have had many problems with that in the past. I know it has something to do with trying to re-set fonts. I've tried workarounds in the past but it keeps coming back.

When it gets that bad, I usually can solve the problem by unistalling Chrome and then installing again. A bit drastic, but t is the best I can think of. Had to configure a few things again, like the home page, but I believe all the extensions were there again.

Tried doing this but when I try to uninstall Chrome, I get a window "Please close all Google Chrome windows (including those in Windows 8) and try again.

AFAIK, I have closed every window and application but still keep getting this message which prevents me from uninstalling Chrome.

Win.8-1 with Classic Shell.

Whenever you have a problem uninstalling or updating software try doing it in using Windows Safe Mode.

Otherwise, if you are in regular boot mode you can try killing all the Chrome Processes with Task Manager:

right-click the blank area of the Task Bar (or system clock), select Task Manager

under the [Processes] tab select each instances of Google Chrome listed under the APPS and BACKGROUND PROCESSES list header, then select (End task) button on each

when all instances have been removed, close Task Manager. you can continue to remove the software or run the update.
