Woman accused of luring girl, 14, into sex work
The Sunday Nation

BANGKOK: -- Police have arrested a young woman for allegedly luring a 14-year-old into prostitution in Nakhon Pathom's Don Tum district.

Pornnipa Mameesuk, 22, allegedly charged customers Bt1,500 to have sex with the girl, with Pornnipa keeping Bt1,000 as a commission, said Pol Colonel Phassawee Reungphu of Don Tum Police Station.

Pornnipa faces charges of taking a minor aged under 15 from her parents for lewd acts and prostitution, procuring a minor aged under 15 for the sex trade and human trafficking.

Phassawee said the girl went missing from her home on August 16 and was found 10 days later.

She told her parents that Pornnipa invited her to have sex with men for money in exchange for her getting Bt500 each time.

A police complaint was filed, leading to the arrest.

Pornnipa allegedly confessed to police. She reportedly told police that she claimed to be a local television and daily newspaper reporter.

I'd be tempted to go easy on her....in exchange for dobbing in her sicko customers. THEY are the ones that need to be locked up. Paying 1500, they obviously knew what they were getting.

It would be better to not go easy on her, and if she volunteered the information about the customers, all well and good. But I do think a lesser sentence on her is worth nabbing the <deleted> child perverts.

It really is a shame that a 14 year old would knowingly agree and start selling herself using this woman as an agent or pimp. Who is teaching these kids about morals and values and self esteem? As for the lady who got her customers! A woman in a position such as her as a reporter should be locked up for a long time. Maybe she can do reports from a prison cell. If it was my daughter she made the offer to, I don't believe she would be alive for very much longer

I was thinking the same sort of thing. Frankly its the people having the sex that are committing a more serious crime in terms of the victim.

Although exploiting underage children for profit as a business model needs to be discouraged by demonstrating anyone doing it is going to face serious consequences. A carts and horses dilemma this one.

Perhaps the prison guards might force the same deal on the pimp woman in prison, say for an extra helping of rice. And stop after she has named all the customers.

That sounds fair enough?

It might not seem a lot of money, but at that price I doubt the customers would be your local taxi driver types. More like local business people and connected "others", who she would probably be too scared to rat on.

Think about it! What poorly educated girl, anywhere in the 3rd world, would knock back a chance to make B 500 for a half hours work? The 22 year old is probably in the same position having been asked if she could supply such a person! IMHO

All those who express "shock horror" should look around in their own community, who really helps the poorist in their communities? wink.pngbah.gifwai.gif

We are all reading off the same page here, yes it goes against the grain to see someone who so cynically exploited a minor get a "reduced" sentence, but it is important to identify and punish the men who abused this child.

They have proved they have the want or desire, they have also shown that they have the money and that they are prepared to spend it. They will offend again with some other poor child who is either exploited or desperate, of that we can have no doubt.

Hopefully their identity gets the attention it deserves, we can only hope that there is at least a basic effort made by the relevant authorities to expose them, we can only hope...

We have ideas in the west about self esteem.

Poverty in the west is like royalty when compared to poverty in Thailand.

Girls in Thailand consider living in poverty as more degrading than having sex with strangers for money. Most of them want to do it and sadly some from a young age. The older ones see it as an opportunity to get themselves and their families out of poverty and the younger ones want nice things like their aunt with the farang husband. The girl pimping her will be justifying it to herself by thinking she is helping the girl and her family... it's hard for us to understand.

The punters paying are the ones who should be punished.

In Holland several dozen guys appeared/will appear in court for having had sex with a minor prostitute. The kid was lured into the trade by her loverboy. Two of the "gentleman" customers committed suicide. Apparently they couldn't deal with the public disgrace. Quite a few others now are in a divorce process. Young kids of some of the accused do not want to have anything to do anymore with their dads.

The judges were rather mild in the sentences so far, taking into account that the "social" damage already was high. A few of them lost their jobs as well, more will follow when they have to serve time.

Public prosecutors will appeal a number of cases as they feel the sentences were too light.

Nail the sicko's to the wall like this. Perhaps others will control their fantasies better that way.

It can sometimes be a sticky issue.

I'm an advocate for protecting the rights of the innocent.

It is sometimes a blurry line between where innocence starts and finishes but in almost every case, effective education is a big key to a better future for all and would help even many innocents to make better decisions for themselves in the absence of responsible guardians.

Certainly slam-dunking perps into custody is not always the best over-all solution. Although, sometimes it is!

Ok what she did was wrong what the customers did was worst Shoot her castrate the customer's and bend them over a saw horse Find a donkey in heat smear the juice on butt and let nature take its course .

While the men are disgusting, don't forget the 14 year old was not forced, she did it on her own will. A magnitude different than rape where the men usually get away very cheap...

Well she did a lot more than lure her surely. Though this report seems to imply the girl was a willing participant ( before the moral majority arcs up i understand a minor technically cant give consent) . Speaking of consent i find this case no less disgusting then the 50, 60 70 year and up old men that come to this country and go out of their way to <deleted> the youngest girls they can find and wouldnt be paying much more than the 1500 baht discussed in this story

and before you start givinge crap about the age of consent, how many underage girls do you think are really working in Bkk, Pattaya Patong etc

oh really? that's ok then

she was a CHILD who was tricked, manipulated and bribed and, as a MINOR, she does not have the developed emotional or mental ability to make a considered CHOICE

The only thing disgusting here is your post

If the potential customers are in fear of being dobbed in enough to reduce demand, then the supply wouldn't be there (which would otherwise just increase as much as needed to match the market).

I've had the unfortunate experience of running into some of these types of characters over the years (not necessarily under age targets, though I don't know tbh) who brag about their exploits in certain Soi's and how small money they pay compared to other customers using the more mainstream outlets. It puts a feeling in my mouth that even Listerine can't get rid of.

Does anybody remember that story where a reporter doing an expo on this paid the Mamosan to 'free' two girls, thinking he was doing the right thing, and the first thing they did was go back and resume their role? Presumably they didn't have a better way of making money so didn't really want to leave.

A few years ago, two farangs picked up two girls in a well-known pick-up area. They took them by car to a park, where sex acts were consumated. Upon leaving the park, police, news reporters, and child welfare workers stopped them. The two farangs were taken to jail and charged with child molestation--the girls were 16 and 17. After posting bail, the two were released. After paying several more tens of thousand in payoffs to parents, lawyers and police; the two were exonerated. During their weekend in jail, the police brought girls into the jail for prisoners with money--guess who two of the girls were? This sort of thing is all too common in the lesser developed countries; and it is not unheard of in the West.

Where do you read that it is OK? I never told that. So for you it is right that the customer get rapped to death "castrate the customer's and bend them over a saw horse Find a donkey in heat smear the juice on butt and let nature take its course." while we let a violent rapist out of the jail after 3 years.

That rage is complete out of proportion to what is happening in the real life.

If you want to get angry there is enough to do:

Google a bit at which age girls get married to men they never have seen before AGAINST their will in some Muslim countries. (13-15). Or look at

the several cases of child abuse (babies sometimes) that are not followed up because high ranking people are involved (UK).

But OK that might be too difficult for most......So be entertained with this case.

The average wage in 7/11 is 9,000 month.

The average wage for a new starter in a department store for is 8 or 9,000

A girl working in a department store for a while will get around 12,000. If she's lucky and gets commission for sales she might get more.

A girl who goes to university and becomes a teacher will earn around 15,000. Same if she becomes an accountant...

So even after going to university she earns next to nothing.

The morals and ideas of what is the right thing is different. The right thing to them is sending money home to support their family.

This girl was earning 500 a time instead of earning 350 for 12 hrs in 7/11

It's a no brainer to them

I know that this is the oldest profession. But I can't help feeling that seeing farangs living in villages with nice cars homes and apparent pots of gold, makes them want the same and they don't have many options to get it.

Try watching Thai TV. Rich Thais with big houses and cars. Many scholarships in Thailand. Work hard go to school and be a success. Far more rich Thais have mia nois than the occasional Farang in the village.

I befriended a young woman plying the trade...who would also pimp her 15 yr old sister for a few extra baht...no amount of shaming her would convince her to give up using her sister...they became a team who entertained groups of Japanese to make an extraordinary income...bought a new vehicle last I heard of her...

They both seems to truly enjoy their work...

No, I did not contribute to either of their incomes...but did enjoy the banter as she spoke good English and was willing to talk candidly about her experiences...

The good thing for our daughters is they don't have to send money home...

How do you know that? A child paying back a government student loan because family could not afford it or paying back the family for the loan because they could afford it? Give a child a car or home and many folks expect repayment the same as a bank.

I financed my daughter and her husband's home and they make payments to me at a reduced rate of interest just like the bank only a better deal.
