Is there any update on the outcome? I'm in the same dilemma myself - have Thai - Japanese dual citizenships and kept renewing my Non-Iimmigrant B + WP for the past 15 years but one day have to break that loop to settle in Thailand as a Thai after retirement. Hope things went as planned for Nemo and would appreciate an update.

I don't pay for it, my employer does. I also don't have a Thai passport since I was a child. I sought to live and work in Thailand 15 years ago after decades way from it (other than to visit my parents) and came back to Thailand with the only passport I had (and had been renewing visa/WP since), at which time both my Thai national I.D. card and passports had long expired.
