The Thai government yesterday announced that the man believed to be the prime suspect in the deadly bombing of Bangkok’s Erawan shrine had been arrested in Thailand’s Sa Kaeo province, though well-placed officials in both Cambodia and Thailand said that the man was actually arrested at Phnom Penh International Airport.

The Cambodian police official’s version of events, corroborated by a Thai police source contradicts the official narrative of the Thai authorities – including statements by Thai Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha – and has been denied by a Cambodian official.

Prayuth told reporters yesterday the unidentified man was arrested on the Thai side of the border in Sa Kaeo province, across from Cambodia’s Banteay Meanchey province.

So, why did they pay themselves the reward money?

That may have been the most ridiculous, and greedy move in the history of the RTP. What fools. Can anyone imagine the govt. paying a reward to the cops for doing their work? Hooligans. Revenue collection agents.

It is, of course, possible that the so called recipients of the so called reward have not and will not actually receive anything. Although it's just pocket change, the guys with stars on their shoulders probably divided it up day one.

Anyone perceptive enough will deduce that from viewing the video on the BK Post, where they are laying out all his possessions on a table, including a roll-on suitcase that looks new, the the wheels clearly show no dirt or mud or anything else one would assume you would see on someone slogging through the jungle and river escaping Thai justice.

I think it's clear he wasn't nabbed at the border, and we'll see what version finally sticks.

The cops here have an absolutely shocking record for dishonesty and unprofessionalism.. I am sure the khmer cops are hardly paragons of virtue either but in this particular instance i'd buy their version of events over the RTP's version all day long

Don't forget that a substantial amount was put up by the Police Commissioner in the first place. Perhaps the BiBs got Thaksin's offerering?

Where did the Police Commissioner get it from? Easy way to get rid of dirty money & still get some back.
