CDRM holds a meeting with chiefs of government agencies

The Council of Democratic Reform under the Constitutional Monarchy (CDRM) has called a meeting with the chiefs of every agency.

The atmosphere at the headquarters of the Royal Thai Army is lively since this morning, as the heads of different government agencies are gradually arriving at the venue to attend the meeting with the CDRM members. The format of this meeting would be similar to the past Cabinet meetings, which were usually held on Tuesdays.

All chiefs’ vehicles will be inspected by the officials before they will be authorized to enter the headquarters.

Sonthi calls meeting of military-beat reporters

Gen Sonthi Boonyaratglin, the coup leader, called a meeting of military-beat reporters at the Army headquarters Tuesday morning.

It is expected that Sonthi would brief the reporters about the works of the Council for Democratic Reform under the Constitutional Monarchy.

The meeting took place at 9 am.

The CDRM also schedules a meeting with permanent secretaries of all ministries at 10 am to discuss the next fiscal year budgeting.

EC representatives will discuss with CDRM on electoral issues

The Election Commission (EC) will send representatives to have a discussion with the Council of Democratic Reform under the Constitutional Monarchy (CDRM). They will discuss the direction of the upcoming general election, which will be held under the framework of the CDRM.

At the EC Office this morning, the newly-appointed election commissioners officially acknowledged their roles and responsibilities. Their tasks are divided into five main functions. They will look after the main administrative activities, manage all electoral issues, investigate and analyze electoral cases, and provide information to all political parties. This was the first official meeting between the newly-appointed election commissioners and other EC officers.

This afternoon, the EC members will hold a meeting to organize the local election after the court has ordered them to hold a new election.

EC Chairman Aphichart Sukhakkhanon (อภิชาติ สุขัคคานนท์) has assigned EC member Apichart Sukhakanon (อภิชาต สุขัคคานนท์) and other EC officials to meet with the CDRM, so they could set the electoral framework.

In the meantime, EC Secretary-General Ekkachai Warunprapa (เอกชัย วารุณประภา) has been requested to clear all the pending works before he will officially resign. Mr. Apichart will consider the approval of his resignation after he has completed his assignments.

Interior Ministry to propose its budget to CDRM

The Permanent Secretary to the Interior Ministry, Mr. Sucharit Patchimanan (สุจริต ปัจฉิมนันท์), said the ministry's budget of 200 billion baht, which was proposed to the previous government, will be proposed to the Council of Democratic Reform under the Constitutional Monarchy (CDRM).

Mr. Sucharit said the budget will be proposed during the CDRM’s meeting today. He said that the entire proposed budget is a regular budget. He said this financial amount has been considered in terms of its appropriateness and urgency. The budget has included the CEO budget as well.

Mr. Sucharit referred to the transfers of C10 and C11 officials of the Interior Ministry. He said the CDRM will consider whether the transfers would be concluded within this month or not. He said their names, which were approved by the previous government, will be submitted to the CDRM.

He admitted that there might be changes in certain posts. He stated that the officials of the Interior Ministry are prepared to work together with the new Interior Minister, whether or not the individual is an army official or a civilian.

Fiscal Year 2007 Budget consideration informed at CDRM meeting

The Permanent Secretary to the Ministry of Finance and the Finance executives, including the Bureau of the Budget Director-General, presented information on the drafting of the budget and its estimates on revenue and expenditure at the meeting of the Coucil for Democratic Reform under the Constitutional Monarchy (CDRM) on September 25th.

Those details from the Cabinet meeting on January 17th, 2006 and reassurance from the executives concerned gave confidence that the budget will be timely executed in the form of budget deficit for long-term financial sustainability. The emphasis for budget spending should be for the development of human resource and society, with economic stimulation taken into consideration.

The meeting was informed of the matter and assigned authorities concerned to conduct related meetings to consider the budget for each ministry, addressing on issues of minimum required expenditure, the ongoing expenditure, and ceiling limits of expenditure for basic and strategic tasks and missions.
