short term internet advice

Featured Replies

hello all,

I used to stay in pattaya quite a lot but have not been back for about 15 months, in a month or so I am coming back for 4 weeks

and staying at an old place that I used to live in. I was hoping to get some half decent internet short term whiile I was there with a wired connection i contacted my old internet provider and they have all these new rules, first they say no problem can set up for you for one month, but they have new set up fees of 7500 baht (though my building is already ready) plus they want 60 baht per meter for the wire Was quite surprised to hear this, usually when I hear this I think that the company is probably going out of business and trying to get as much as they can.

In any case 7500 for set up fees for a month stay is not going to happen

Does anyone know of any companies that will set up internet for a month? I know 3BB will only do year contracts at least that is how it was in the past. I am going to be in the Pratumak area... love to hear of any suggestions

Also those Air Cards I sometimes see people with are they any good? How much are they? Where do you get them and what kind of speeds would you get on them?

Thanks all

Have a smart phone?

if you do....use it as a wifi hotspot....its what I do. DTAC etc.

4g....and can get as low as 299 .....pay as you go.

For one month?

I see only:

mobile internet (smartphone or aircard) or

WiFi access with prepaid card (if signal available in your area)

3BB WiFi, ToT WifFi ...

All a matter of a few hundred Baht.

If you were from the UK, you could pick up a 4G Mobile WiFi unit for 1500 baht, in order to pair it with the data SIM of your choice. You can buy a 3G model in Thailand for the same, but it will likely be locked to AIS or TRUE. Example

Of course, if you have an up to date Smartphone, you might utilise it.
