webfact Posted September 9, 2015 Author Share Posted September 9, 2015 Second day of Erawan shrine bombing re-enactment continues amid curious crowds BANGKOK: -- Police brought 25-year old Yusufu Mierraili, a prime suspect in Erawan shrine and Sathorn pier bomb explosions early this morning to re-enact his acts in both bombings, one of which left 20 dead and over 120 injured. Under maximum security provided by over 100 anti riot policemen and plainclothes security personnel in the second day of the criminal re-enactment, he was escorted from Minburi police station first to Ratchaprasong intersection where he said he walked from Wat Pathumwanaram, passing the Royal Thai Police headquarters, to the Erawan shrine on the skywalk.He also confessed to taking photograph from the skywalk near Central World department store after the bomb exploded, and then walking away to Pratunam.But he denied detonating the bomb.During the re-enactment of his acts in the bomb attack at the Erawan shrine, the police also blocked some lanes of the Ratchadamri road to Pratunam causing traffic jams during the morning rush hours.Hundreds of curious passersby also stopped to watch the re-enactment from the skywalk and on sidewalks.After Ratchaprasong, Yusufu was taken to Hua Lampong railway station where he confessed to deliver a backpack to the Erawan shrine bomber dressed in yellow shirt.After today’s re-enactment, he will be brought back to Minburi where the police will seek permission from the Minburi provincial court to detain him for 12 more days for interrogation.According to Daily News, Yusufu admitted to have known the man in blue shirt which kicked a bag into the Sathorn canal at the same day of the Erawan shrine bombing. I'm not sure what role he played in the bombing. I don't believe anything he says. At the very least, he was part of the trafficked Uighur militants who were passing through Thailand, on their way to Turkey to join ISIL. He also is tied to the conspiracy to make bombs as his fingerprints were found in the room where bomb making materials were uncovered. To me, that's enough to charge him with conspiracy to carry out terrorist acts, and he deserves a good hanging. Does he think these police are his friends? Or does he understand the severity of these charges? Mr.Mieraili realized the bag contained a bomb. After the bag was handed over, Mr.Mieraili took a Tuk Tuk to Wat Pathum Wanaram.Then he walked along the skywalk near Fountain Plaza of CentralWorld department store where he took photos and observed the explosion. After that, he went to a taxi at Soi Phetchaburi 27 requesting the driver to drop him at Hua Mak, Bangkapi District. There he withdrew money from ATM cash machine and took a public bus, fleeing to Min Buri.Pol Lt Gen Prawut said police would take Mr.Mieraili to Min Buri Court for detention at no later than 3 p.m., to ask for the power to extend the custody.The police spokesman said the suspect well cooperated with the police. Making the guy go through the motions as if he did it is a simple intent to imply guilt before a trial (and maybe let some cops have their ego massaged). One of many small reasons which add up to make Thailand a laughing stock to the rest of the world. It's time this country joined the 21st century.
