No contact made with Thai Embassy in Turkey by blast suspect

BANGKOK, 9 September 2015 (NNT) - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that the Thai Embassy in Turkey has not received any contact from one of the suspects of the Ratchaprasong intersection bombing while reassuring that the relationship between the two countries remains strong.

Foreign Affairs Minister Don Pramudwinai reported the progress of tracking down Ms Wanna Suansun, identified as one of the suspects in the deadly bombing at Ratchaprasong intersection, saying the Thai Embassy in Turkey has not heard from the suspect yet and it is unclear whether she still remains in Turkey or not. The Foreign Ministry at the moment still lacks proper technology to pinpoint her whereabouts abroad.

Previous investigations confirmed Ms Wanna as a Thai national who was married to a Turkish man and was living in Turkey. She was also found to be the owner of an apartment room in Min Buri district of Bangkok where bomb components were discovered by police.

Meanwhile, the Turkish government has affirmed that relations with Thailand still remain tight despite the violent incident and has expressed deepest condolences for the losses. The country also expressed hope that Thai authorities will be able to state clearly the nationalities of all suspects in order to avoid misunderstanding that Turkey is involved in the incident.

It may be a problem with translation but this part of the article somewhat surprised me:

" . . . it is unclear whether she still remains in Turkey or not. The Foreign Ministry at the moment still lacks proper technology to pinpoint her whereabouts abroad."

Perhaps I'm being a little simplistic but couldn't the Thai authorities try calling Turkish immigration? Afterall, relations are still tight.

Wondering if Turkey will extradit her especially if this is all about Uighurs.....

Turkey is not a hypocrite like Europe, I'm sure they will do the right thing if the people in question have anything to do with the bombing.
