BANGKOK, 10 September 2015 (NNT) - Their Majesties the King and Queen on September 9 sent a congratulatory message to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on the occasion of the latter’s becoming the longest reigning monarch of the United Kingdom.

In the royal message, Their Majesties the King and Queen extended their sincerest congratulations and best wishes for the health and happiness of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh and all the Members of the Royal Family as well as for the greater progress and prosperity of the United Kingdom and her people.

His Majesty wrote in the message he was confident that the long-standing amicable ties of friendship and cooperation between the two countries and peoples would be also strengthened and flourish even further.

Cabinet secretariat to decide on Thaksin's royal decorations

BANGKOK: -- The Secretariat of the Cabinet will decide whether to revoke royal decorations conferred on fugitive former premier Thaksin Shinawatra, after he was stripped of his police lieutenant colonel rank on Saturday, national police chief Pol General Somyot Poompanmuang said yesterday.

Normally, the Royal Thai Police would submit for royal endorsement a proposal to strip the police rank together with another one for revocation of royal decorations.

However, as Thaksin's case was decided by Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha with special powers under Article 44, the police's responsibility in the case was over, he said.
