Hello everyone,

I just got my 59 day tourist visa good until Nov 7, in the sweltering hot Vientiane cattle-call visa farm.

I understand I can extend this for 30 days for 1900 baht.

I did all this with my Brazilian passport. (First 3 months visa exempt.)

So by Dec 6th, I fly out of Thailand and fly back..... But I'd like to use my USA passport at that time.

Question: is arriving back into Thailand with usa passport with no stamps a problem?? I.e how did I get to Cambodia with my US passport? Also is entering Cambodia with no stamps a problem? Same question in reverse.

If I can do that, I can be here another 120 days before ever having to show my Brazilian passport again!! :-)

It's really down to the IO of each country. Some IO's will insist that you enter with the passport that has the exit stamp. That tends to be more of an issue at land borders. If you're flying there's more chance that they will let you choose.

Not sure why you want to use your USA passport when coming back in December as your Brazilian passport entitles you to 90 days stay under bilateral agreement whereas the US only gives you 30 days under visa exempt entry.

Because isn't it true that I'll be turned away if I try to use my Brazilian passport too often? If they see many tourist visas in the same year?

If I do a few months with US passport and then go back to Brazil passport, it'll appear as if though there was a long break in between my stay.

Correct?

Thanks! :)

You won't definitely be turned away. There is no limit on the amount of times you enter with or without a visa. But having many entries can put you on the radar. That doesn't mean you'd be denied entry but the IO might want to question you about your stay in Thailand and how you pay for it.

Switching your passports might help keep you off the radar. I honestly don't know if the Thai immigration system links dual national passports from the name and DOB or not. If they don't then your plans a good one as long you can get around the exit stamp issue.

The immigration system currently flags people with 6+ visa exempt entries, for questioning, so if you've had less than that they will probably leave you alone.

People face a higher chance of hassle at land borders. If you're flying in the number of visa exempt entries is not such an issue.

Ahh wow, good to know, thanks! I suppose I'll save my US passport for some future date where it might become a solution to a real problem.
