Tesco sell Crisco which is shortening, not lard. Since the OP does not seem to mind which, the following method can be used to produce a shortening type of lard.

If the OP wants the type of solid lard used in such things as hot water pastry (pork pie crust etc) then the method above will not work due to excessive heating. Hmmmm. It works but the pastry will taste like it has been fried rather than baked.

Cut pork fat into to 1cm or 1/2 inch cubes. Place into a bowl and cover in foil but leave a small gap facing downwards at the side to allow steam to escape. Steam for an hour or so, sieve and let cool. Pure lard.
