Spleen
The fact they always equate tourist figures with Money, says quite a lot about them and their view of Tourists It's an industry. It contributes nearly 10% to the country's GDP and employs roughly 6% of the population. So yes, it is all about money at the end of day. No different from any other country's tourism boards that are funded by the taxpayer to bring tourists to spend money. Simple. Yes it is different in other countries .You don't hear them harping about how much money they are going to make on a daily basis like this lot , or quoting different figures day in day out. Other countries also re-invest that money unlike the Thais , shit streets , shit roads , no law and electric cables hanging down in the street, something for them to chirp about with their tourist figures

webfact
NCPO says tourism sector has improvedBANGKOK, 11 September 2015 (NNT) - The National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) announced that investigators are hard at work to solve the bombings of Ratchaprasong Intersection and Sathorn Pier, which have since been completely restored.According to the Tourism Council of Thailand, overall tourism has improved. The amount of tourists visiting Thailand in 2015 has risen to 30.45 million, a 22% growth from last year. Thailand's projected revenue for 2015 is 2.3 trillion baht, which exceeds the target set by the Tourism Authority of Thailand. However, in order to help authorities provide a safe environment, entrepreneurs and business owners, especially those renting accommodations, have been advised to strictly follow all relevant legislation. The NCPO emphasized the record-keeping of basic information and documents of tenants and customers. These include passports, national IDs and lengths of stay. This regulation will also help landlords and businesses build confidence among tourists and visitors with regards to government safety measures.Security agencies have collaborated with all sectors to hold activities to inform the public on spotting suspicious activity and staying safe, without disrupting their profession or daily lives. -- NNT 2015-09-

spidermike007
There is a reason why they call the place Amazing Thailand. It is a bit like the field of dreams. Build it, and they will come. Pick a number. We can make it happen. Our minds are so powerful, that if we say 30 million, that many people will come. We will attract them with the sheer power of our will. We do not need to change, improve, progress, or revise. We just project. No need to improve traffic safety. No need to reform the RTP. No need to hold elections. They will come anyway. They love us. They cannot stay away. They do not have alternatives, as few countries are as lovely and as pleasant, and as charming, and as cheap as ours. They cannot resist us!
