Koh Tao murders: 2 DNA profiles from alleged murder weapon do not match defendants' DNA

“The documents have been edited. The dates are not right,” Dr Pornthip, who has decades of experience in forensic science, told the three sitting judges.

Felt this needed re-posting. Her statement reminded me of the discussions concerning the possible editing and date discrepancies related to the CCTV in Bangkok (original suspect).

It's a shame we don't know more about what exactly was edited. Just the dates? What sort of significance would have? Because, ultimately, the key is the DNA sample. Altering a date on a document would not affect the test results (unless the samples were switched).

I believe the CCTV in Bangkok is genuine. But it proves nothing other than that the individual in question was walking out of his apartment sometime after 9 am. It does not prove that he was in his room from the previous midnight. Videos of him entering his apartment would have been conclusive but does that exist????

The whole video was photo shopped. Also he was reported to be on his way to uni class ...........No note books etc ? nothing, usually students have got all their papers etc with them.

The problem i have with it is if he had made the trip from Koh Tao surely he would be too tired to being going to classes first thing?

I am concerned about social media and how easy it is to pick out suspects and actualy how easy it is to ruin other peoples lifes, I have some personal experience with this , both FB and sites like CSI LA and others can really destroy people, IF he is innocent. Believe me if Nomsod is a cold blooded murderer I like to see him dead, but I do not believe he is that kind of person, again based on my personal opinion and observations.

Both the DNA test and CCTV should have cleared his name in any other western country but this being Thailand so it will not be that easy anymore. Again Nomsod is just one person , we all know a group of people must have been responsible , but its easy to just pick out NS and then nothing new will come out of that. My personal opinion of course.

balo , you are clearly living in a parallel universe if you belive in the above .

Neith the DNA test or a couple of still photos offers anything that approaches evidence to clear anybody . The process in providing the test and photos is floored , and it's about time you came to terms with that .

If he was involved, i suspect getting back to BKK and then not going to uni would be counter productive. Just.act.normal.

That's only an slight issue if you believe that the CCTV, which was provided weeks later by him, has not had the time stamp doctored.

It holds no water just like the staged DNA testing. If anything, the way both of these were handled just adds more suspicion onto him.

You are not thinking far enough. If I had committed a crime, I would want to have an alibi as soon as possible. One possible avenue is to be captured by CCTV footage, as far away from the crime scene as possible. I can subsequently say any of a thousand things - going to school, going to 7/11, going to visit a friend. As a uni student, the easiest would be to say going to uni.

Subsequently, it's possible that as I'm tired, adrenaline still rushing, I overlook a simple matter - no bag or books or files.

I see there is still a lot of focus on Nomsod in this case and thats fine by me, I already stated my opinion and do not expect any likes.

But maybe time to find out how many suspects there is in this case? Is it a group of like 10 to 20 people that could have been involved somehow , both Thais and foreigners or are we just gonna focus on 1 or 2 persons in the next months ahead ?

The majority of us here have seen and read enough of this case to be focused on just one person with possibly the help of a relative. coffee1.gif

Can I assume you're not from the west? No offense meant, I think that may be why you don't understand a lot of posters position on Warot and any evidence. Where I'm from, The DNA reports (all that are relevant including Warot's) would be given to both the prosecution and the defense in "discovery" where the prosecutor has to disclose what evidence they have in the case before proceedings. If this had happened much of the current nonsense happening in court would not be happening.

Both teams would have seen the DNA linking the B2 to the sperm in Hannah and the defense would try to state that it proves only rape, not murder. The difference in Thailand is we get to see nothing unless RTP give it up. This means that nearly all evidence in the trial has been verified by only the RTP team and the prosecuting team while the defense doesn't get to counter it.... All of the important alibi evidence from Warot was never verified, None.

I'm well aware of social media having its devious side and certainly many cases have been witch hunts. This isn't one of those. This must be the third time I've typed this bit out.. If I were Warot, I would have receipts from around bangkok for at least the day before the crime showing where I ate, how I got around (parking receipt, mass transit) I'd release my DNA to Pornthip's team to verify I'm innocent... I would explain why I went to the temple soon after etc etc.... And lastly, I would sue the shit out of Panya Mamen. I would NOT slink away and complain about how my life was "ruined" and have my father and the Pm threaten legal action against accusers, Not while there was still doubt. I'd also ask The Nicky TP why she claimed I wasn't available for a week after the crimes and so on. If you can't see why there is suspicion I don't know how else to help. :)

In the "other" paper it says the police did not take any DNA tests from the Hoe, but it did take fingerprints, so I suppose we will have to wait for the judges report to come out , to see if these were used as evidence or not.

This is exactly the reason that NS should give his DNA, but he refused at the time they were collecting. Yes there was a "display" of him giving DNA a long time after, but who kept this DNA, was it lost or used up ?

Absolutely agree. I was arrested once for a crime and fortunately I was on a flight to Ibiza. So theres no way I bashed the guy when he got out his car that night. Phew so lucky to have fool proof alibi.

Don't be blinkered Old Sailor. A group of assailants carried out this crime IMHO. Following orders from their seniors. You do not commit a crime in small area like that, one that's so tight knit without lots of people knowing about it.

Fear is a good silencer and one that has been the main hindrance to this case. Take away the fear and empower people to tell the truth and you watch them come out of the shadows to speak up.

No chance though.. sad.png

Referring to the "Running Man" video. I am convinced that the person is NS. Just compare his walking action. He throws his right arm forward seemingly to grab air to pull himself forward, at the same time waving his left arm around. I do not think that i have ever seen anyone else with this strange walking action. As for the mans hair style, it appears a little bushy, same as in the doctored video at the uni. But one of the first things his father did on arrival in Bangkok was to get him a nice new non bushy hairstyle. mmmmmmmmm?

I'm following the trial with interest , and I am happy for any factual news that will come out of the court room. I am just an observer like anyone else and if B2 are innocent then a lot of work needs to be done to catch the real killers.

Well Balo, good to hear you're easing a bit closer to reason. My opinion: very doubtful there were 10 to 20 criminals partaking in the crime. It would be hard for that many to keep mum and to cover their tracks. We would have heard about a big crowd, if that was the case.

Crime investigations very often focus on one or two prime suspects in the hope that, if they're guilty they will rat on others involved. It has traditionally happened in Cosa Nostra Mafia, and many other cases.

It's doubtful the former suspects will be scrutinized if the B2 are let off, and here's why: It will have been over a year since the crime. Crime scenes quickly go cold in Thailand. Even when a crime scene is minutes/hours old, Thai investigators can't find clues, so how can we expect them to do better when the scene is over a year old? Also: Mon was prancing all over the crime scene, so any DNA evidence which points at him can be dismissed. Most importantly, the Headman won't ease up on shielding his darling son. If NS is indicted, the Headman will likely do and pay anything to get him dismissed. Big money can be very persuasive.

Sorry , I am not saying 10 to 20 persons partaking in the crime , only that you can pick out a group of suspects from a bigger group of 10-20 people who were on the beach and in AC bar that night. The only question is, who are the evil ones capable of slaughtering people like this, and probably high on drugs.

Every male on the island over the age of 14 should be DNA tested

Every male who was on the island at the time, or has strong connections with the island who have an alibi...

I've houmored you so far Balo, no more. It's becoming painfully obvious you don't care about what's happening in the trial, Only defecting. Peace.

Out of all the people who were at the beach that night or an AC bar police have only ever released footage of running man, the B3 and some number 9 shirt guy as suspects, Nobody else so where going off what's been presented in court or by the police. There's no mention of drugs being a possible motive and I find the idea irrelevant. Two things stand out to me about the aftermath of the crime.. The B2 didn't run away immediately and nobody aside from David heard or tried to intervene, possibly Sean but let's leave him aside. Surely, if two Burmese guys were seen/heard commiting a crime this heinous they would have been served up the next day. If a powerful, or even just wealthy local were on the scene, how could a Burmese laborer do anything? Mon Initially swaying the investigation in the beginning by suggesting he saw Sean covered in blood is another red flag, along with him claiming initially it was him in the running man video as, oh and last but not least not handing over CCTV from the bar... That's a fact the last one. Anyone left who's sure this case is airtight and done can hardly be serious.

As much as I have always felt that the B2 are just two unfortunates who were in the wrong place at the wrong time I do consider with an open mind the reports we have of the ongoing trial, due to Interpreters being warned off with treats of physical violence or worse and the obstructions in place to make it near on impossible to get unbiased report of the proceedings.

We are left with basically Andy popping his head out the court door with the occasional tweet... obviously he is not impartial so we are only getting half the story... sad.png

at that crucial haircut, NS's barber also trained his sideburns to curl toward his ear rather than toward the front of his face, as is shown in the CCTV from crime night.

The next question is:

If the claims regarding DNA evidence incriminating these suspects are false, then what of the DNA evidence claimed to clear a particular other subject?

Both claims by RTP top brass were just plain false, intentionally so, in order to incriminate the Burmese, and to continue to shield NS. The two basic claims were in relation to the DNA typing found in/on Hannah. One claim said the B2 matched. The other claimed NS's didn't match. All those tests were done quite quickly, particularly for Thai labs which, a month earlier we were told Thailand didn't have labs which could type DNA beyond a basic level of gender and general ethnicity. Also, the lead RTP investigator stated, months later in the courtroom, that RTP no longer had NS's DNA typing. He couldn't say whether NS's DNA was ever typed. He couldn't say if it was compared to the DNA found in/on Hannah. Earlier, chief cop Somyot said publicly that RTP would NOT share DNA typing with any British authorities. Could RTP be any more blatant in their failed cover-up?

Exactly. Nobody least off all two young Burmese goes back to bed and sleep after battering someone's head in and murdering another. Also knowing how everything works in Thailand after being there 2 years if they had of done it they would have got the hell out of there as quick as possible. Also as I've said before along with many others why would the Island clam up and people threatened to protect 2 expendable Burmese who don't register on Thai people's important list. And your right, the CCTV from many cameras is out there but the RTP have chose not to hand it over or show it. why?? Most don't need to answer that as we all know why already

If the case is to be reopened it would be sensible to revisit Panya findings that connected Nomsod to the crime scene. Go from there.

you sum up the items that remarkably increase the suspicion which rised after the claim of the Thai police that Nomsod is a prime suspect, which then was undone in a very strange and unusual short time, the suspiscion that came up because he disappeared for one week after the crime and reappeared with a changed haircut and, and ....

So the b2 had their clothes stolen, and they had bought beer and wine so wouldnt they have had money or a wallet in their clothes?

The B2 were the B3 before their friend went to meet his bird. I have never met a Burmese worker with a wallet!
