Help! Need Visa Advice

Featured Replies

Hello, was hoping that somebody in the know could inform me on whether or not my Southeast Asia itinerary has any issues in regards to any Thai Visa restrictions.

October 31 - November 3 > Bangkok

November 3 - November 24 > Myanmar

November 24 > Fly back to Bangkok, spend a few hours in Don Mueang airport, then fly to Vietnam

November 25 - January 18 > Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos etc.

January 18 - February 29 > Thailand for six weeks with one visa run 3 to 4 weeks in to it. Then home.

Any input anybody could give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

No problem at all, unless you come up against an ignorant immigration officer who does not know the rules and regulations or an officer who defiantly refuses to follow orders from his superiors, of which there are a few at the moment based on recent reports in this forum.

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place

Okay! Thanks for the feed back Maestro. Is this because of the 90 days within a six month period allowance, or is that even a thing anymore?

For the final leg, I would suggest a simple tourist visa.
Valid for 2 months.
A boarder run is then not necessary (Maybe more cheap, considering the travel costs.)

The 90 days limit within six months applied only to visa-exempt entries and was rescinded years ago. The current difficulties have too major causes:

1. Immigration checkpoints at the borders with Cambodia, and Myanmar have been ordered to be stricter with visa-exempt entries and some officers mistakenly also apply it to travellers with a tourist visa.

2. After the national police chief publicly chided immigration officers for being corrupt and derelict in their duties, some officers are rebelling by refusing entry to all travellers regardless of their visa status.

tomacht8. I suppose that the tourist visa needs to be obtained prior to entry?

For Thailand a double entry tourist visa from your home country should be good for 6 months, that would give you both entries without any worries.

would you have to pass through Thai immigration on November 24, if so then maybe a 3 entry

Some will post that a visa isn't required, the first entry could be done on a visa exempt entry, but the 6 week visit would/could require a visa, so at £25.00 a time for each tourist visa entry is it better to be completely covered, as someone has already posted, something silly going on at land border crossing at the moment. a border run could cost £50/60

Well that would be a pain I could do with out. In that case flying in from Siem Reap seems like a better option.

Im going to be in Thailand twice at the beginning of my trip though. 3 days in Bangkok right at the start, and then like 3 weeks later ill be at DMK for just a few hours. Pretty sure ill have to pass through Thai immigration too at DMK.
