Analysis: Russia gambles in Syria, ramping up involvement

Prof fatally shot on Mississippi campus; suspect at large

Thailand set for record tourism year

38-year-old Amnard Choodet was arrested on Sept 9 for assaulting a Kuwaiti tourist.

PHUKET: -- The Kathu territorial defence volunteer who attacked a Kuwaiti tourist last week is to face trial for assault. However, it is not yet known whether he will face an additional charge for carrying a gun in public without permission.

North Korea to launch satellites to mark party anniversary

Kentucky clerk returns to work after 5-day stint in jail

Finance minister: money for infrastructure fund may be sourced from insurance companies

One woman hospitalised following Phuket clothes shop fire

The fire broke out in the early hours of this morning (Sept 15) and it took fireman 15 minutes to get the fire under control.

PHUKET: -- One woman was taken to hospital in the early hours of this morning (Sept 15) following a fire at a clothes shop on Patong beach road. Police have yet to determine the cause of the fire.

NCPO chief and premier called for immediate release of Nation journalist

BANGKOK: -- The Nation’s Editor Jintana Panyaarvudh today submitted an official letter to head of the National Council for Peace and Order and Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha via Office of the Army Secretary, calling for the immediate release of the senior journalist Pravit Rojanaphruk.

The letter was received by Col Rapepat Trijitthitikul, attached to the Army Secretary Office. It will be passed onto the First Army Area today before being forwarded to the NCPO chief and PM Prayut.
