Cold Chisel.

Pretty much anything but for the Asia classic Khe San

AC / DC again pretty much anything preferably in The Bon Scott era

Ah great stuff, Jimmy Barnes at his best.

Contains the classic line,

Just makes it harder to believe that she won't be around

But Ah! Who needs that sentimental bullshit, anyway

Takes more than just a memory to make me cry

A certain poster on about his 6th user name will be along in a minute to tell you he was the inspiration for this song.

Check out who all was in his backup band on Black & White Night.....Starts with Elvis's main 4 guys from his Vegas days + a supporting cast of headlining acts in their own right - starting with The Boss - Elvis Costello - Tom Waits and many many more.....

Yes I know mate, I have watched Black & White Night several times, I have the DVD.

Although I'm mainly a Country Music fan, I have nearly all of Roy and Elvis CDs.

George Jones again.

Why are most of these songs of the country genre?

Maybe just like songs about drugs have a pop genre.

No, I won't be starting a topic about drugs songs.

You will notice that most of my songs in this thread are by George Jones.

That's because these songs are about George himself.

George Jones probably learned from the great Hank Williams......↑↑↑↑↑ I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry.....

Country dealt with the heartbreaks in life....Lost Love - Loneliness - Drinking and alot spun out of the depression/coal miner/common man lament -→ Just a different or white way of singing the blues.....Prior to that alot of western/cowboy songs came from harsh living/lives

My apologies if this has been posted already. I didn't read thru all the pages.

George Thorogood.

I Drink Alone.

as an ex bass player in Scotland, possum should like this number from a Scot

college days, 1973, everyone living in shared houses when rents were 14 pounds a month a room and grants were that - free- education for the masses.

Every college girl loved the Eagles, except for the slags.

It was country music I played back in Scotland, used to play a lot of George Jones (your favourite) songs.

Never played rock although I do appreciate there were some good rock music musicians, I don't know anything

about Gerry Rafferty, though I do know he was popular at his type of music.

Yes, The Eagles, brilliant.

'George Jones probably learned from the great Hank Williams'. Yes he did, he used to copy his singing style along with Roy Acuff, but he was told

by his then manager, never mind singing like Hank or Roy, sing like George Jones, that's why he was the greatest and most original country music singer.
