cheeryble
I need a SMALL amount of two part white epoxy paint. It's for just maybe four square feet, and I'm wondering if I can avoid the several thousand baht needed for the normal large pairs of cans. Any ideas? Basil Fawlty
I am pretty sure that I have seen smallish tins in Tha Watsadu, think around 400+ Baht

cheeryble
Basil There is such a thing as epoxy A and B cans with a sort of sealant epoxy.....have seen it used to make a waterproof "pan" under a bathroom floor before final render and tile.....they are indeed cans less than a pint maybe half pint, and just a few hundred baht.....they come out kind of a whitish mix I think....but they are not paint. Might this be what you have seen? (Thai Watsadu quite out of the way for me. BTW this lower grade epoxy is available quite widely, and also btw is quite useful for its task but not as paint) I would like a proper white gloss finish, so I'm going to keep the thread going in the hope of more info. BTW thanks again. Ps there used to be a Jotun shop on the Suoerhighway in CM which specialised in epoxy paint. Probably only the big cans but if I could find where they a re now I could at least ask or even buy a large size and find a use for it maybe. I remember they had a multicoloured epoxy paint floor for display. BTW Suzuki car service centres have epoxy floors in their workshops and they are seriously not cheap. keeniau96
Jotun has epoxy in A and B cans, one liter size. Excellent stuff, I used to paint front steel front gate.
cheeryble
Keeniau do you know where the Jotun place is now? Is it by any chance in Sridonchai?
A. BOOZER
An old thread on Thai Visa: http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/595662-where-in-cm-to-buy-epoxy-paint/
cheeryble
Ah Boozer a thread on which I participated. Dropped by TW today they only have the Jotun 4 + 1 litre whereas I need about three eggcups. Still the price was not quite so bad as I thought bit over 2000 if I don't use thinner. Been thinking what else I could use it for but brilliant white is to bright for most floor applications. Hate to throw stuff away so may drop by the shop near the old British .consul where I've previously bought polyester resin and I think they had epoxy too....but clear. Then all it needs is a dollop of titanium dioxide whcih may just be available at the chemical supply shops on the. Suthep Rd. Seems a lot of effort to save spending 2100 BT but would bring some satisfaction.
cigar7
There are about 8 different types of epoxy coatings with different performance characteristics. Attached is a comparison chart. epoxy_coating_comparison_chart.pdf
cheeryble
Thanks for that Cigar yes many types of epoxy but I more or less know the one I'm after its the 4-1 version I'm trying to get the missus to call Dyno paints who picture Tub n Tile on their website (they handle .rustoleum products of which this is one. As I won't be able to properly score the surface of the old enamel to an edge (I intend to just do the bottom of the bath I live in hope that the epoxy will be so grippy that it will stay bonded even to the old enamel which naturally will naturally be scrubbed with Vim so it's at least totally grease and dirt free.
