Dr Wissanu warns parties of “surprises” in the new draft charter

BANGKOK: -- Existing political parties may have to re-register in accordance with the new political party law so that they will not have an advantage over new political parties, Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam said Friday.

Citing a provision in Dr Bowornsak Uwanno’s failed draft charter requiring a new political party law which means all parties, both old and new, will have to apply for registration, Dr Wissanu hinted that the new draft charter which is to be crafted by a new Constitution Drafting Committee would likely have the same provision regarding political parties.

Politically, he said all parties must be equally treated which means that all of them would be required to apply for registration so that the existing parties such as the Pheu Thai and Democrat parties would have advantage over new parties.

Commenting on former Pheu Thai MP Chaturon Chaisaeng’s proposed 3-3-3-2 formula of political roadmap which calls for the preparatory period for staging an election to be shortened to two months, Dr Wissanu dismissed the proposal pointing out that he doubted Mr Chaturon had taken into consideration the period required for the drafting of organic laws and the period for the bills to be endorsed by His Majesty the King.

Shortening the period for an election, said the deputy prime minister, will be beneficial to established parties like Pheu Thai and Democrat but a disadvantage to new parties.

He warned political parties of “surprises” in the new draft charter.

Regarding Mr Meechai Ruechuphan who was reported by the media of having accepted to head the new CDC, Dr Wissanu admitted that he was totally unaware of this pointing out that Mr Meechai is currently overseas to defend Thailand with the EU over the IUU fishing problem.

How would what you wrote above be in any way related to communism? Who would these influential people and their spoiled brats be, given that the means of production would be owned and operated by the workers?

Existing parties will have to re register.

Ill bet there will be an unfortunate glitch in that process for Pheu Thai - missed deadline, wrong documentation, paperwork gone astray - something like that!

Nope Think you are wrong there.

All Parties will be barred,

Except sutheps.

We all understand how special his work is. He and his party are the only honest people left in this country.

Every political party must submit an accounting before the election?
Where does the money come from?
Who are the funders / donors / sponsors?
Transparent funding of political parties?

That would be a real surprise.

Ah but he is not a party, he is speaking for the masses don't you know. BigBadGeordie may well be right - who needs parties when you have a visionary who speaks for the masses - with a Mass Foundation of the People or whatever it is called this week.

Well communism: everything state controlled. Any more questions, dude....

... or a more sinister definition for communism would be a word that "CANNOT BE NAMED DUE TO FORUM RULES".... The forbidden D-word...

I doubt it, but if they do they can always register under one of their many aliases.
