PHUKET: Police are looking for clues at karaoke bars in Rasada that might shed light on the mysterious death of an Indonesian fisherman whose body was discovered at the Saphan Pla Fishing Pier in Rassada early this morning.

The body of 32-year-old Indonesian man, Supiyono, was found at about 6.30am about 100 metres from the boat he reportedly worked on, registered as Mann Horngj Inn No3 GTS-5393, belonging to the Indonsian Tuna Company.

The body of Mr Supiyono, which was lying on its backside, was dressed in a ripped red shirt, and blue fisherman pants. Police noted a gash on the man's head before having the body collected and transferred to hospital for post mortem examination.

Police believe he had been dead for no less than 2 hours when they had arrived, and said they'd been told that the man's boat had been docked in Phuket for three days.

Throughout his visit, the victim had allegedly been frequenting local karaoke bars to "pursue girls", police were told, and thus intend to continue their investigation based on this lead.

This is the 2 nd report of a man been found dead with a gash to his head,

has Phuket got a serial killer, or will the Police put it down to suicide?

There used to be one in that area as there were many killings over the years by someone using sharpened rebar. Maybe he has resurfaced using a different modus operandi. The headline for this case though seems to make it look like jealousy was the motive.

This would not be the first time a karaoke bar customer got over charged and couldn't pay his 20,000 baht bill. This always results in a beating by the thugs who work for the karaoke bar, this time resulting in death.

Naaah ... no way it could have been another fisherman with a grudge ... it would be a waste of time to pursue that possibility.

Shows how iffy these vile places are and are probably best left to the locals.

I have a pal who loves them despite my repeated warnings that all it takes is one jealous nincompoop who takes umbrage to the attentions he is being paid by a certain dolly (or vice versa) and best case scenario is that someone dobs him in to his work, worst case scenario is that someone 'accompanies' him on his way home.....

Some wise soul once said 'nothing good ever happens after midnight' but 'nothing good ever comes out of these places'. ever.

Horrible places.

Bit of cryptic reporting. Why the mention that he frequented karaoke bars? Is that standard for person of low morale and person of unimportance therefore dont expect much of an investigation?

Did that first killer attack women or men or both? Most serial killers get off on taking the lives of women and girls. They normally leave "signatures" as well, always the same type of signature, which is different from the M.O. However, there do exist "mission" serial killers who are essentially paranoid schizophrenics who hear voices to off certain types of people. But again, it's mostly women who are the victims.

Remember the Thai PM's comment, "It's not safe for beautiful girls to wear bikinis."

Perhaps he should make another comment, "It's not safe for foreigners to pursue Thai girls."

What is it with TV members? If the RTP said it was another Indo fisherman, there would be an uproar with people trotting out the now absolutely benign and asinine "couldn't have been a Thai" comments.

Now they ARE looking into THAI businesses and they are still in for criticism...

As for all the sorry sacks of ...... who find humour in this or any other persons death. Here's some free advice.: Put down your glass, get off the barstool, walk to the bathroom and stand in front of the mirror. Now take a long hard look at the image staring back at you and remember, one day it's going to be you or a loved one who just may be the focus of the same type of humour....will you be so flippant then? (Rhetorical question)

a gash on the head doesn't automatically mean he's been attacked it could be an accident or it could be he has pursued one girl too many and somebody has taken offence.

do you suffer from dementia, you start off saying he hasn't been attacked then finish saying he might have been attacked?.

Looks like a clear case of suicide by being in Thailand.

If you think that way, and it's obvious by your paranoid comment that your state of mind is not the best, then why don't you get out now? Would be healthier for everyone if you could take your like minded friends with you. Bon voyage.

I'm surprised how much information they supplied this time. Usually they wouldn't disclose details until relatives had been informed, let alone passport and boat registration.
