Slow Screen Refresh Rate

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

got a problem with my laptop screen. Recently my computer went into VGA mode. Helpful suggestions from this site showed me how to get out of it.

However, since then, it is safe to say that things aren't back to normal. The main problem is (for all programmes), when I am scrolling down, instead of it seeming like a fluid scroll down of the screen, the change of the screen comes more 'wave like', in that scrolling down one notch will mean that - like a wave - the new 'display' will start at the top of the screen and move down to the bottom.

I hope I've made sense - basically, it is visually annoying when you do that when trying to read a long article. A bit like the verticle hold on the telly being out of whack.

any advice on fixing this would be welcome.

Have you tried reinstalling Windows?

If your using Microsoft's Internet Explorer 5 or 6, try the following:

1. Open browser

2. Click Tools button

3. Click on Internet Options

4. In new window, click on Advanced tab

5. In new window, scroll down until you see (under Browsing) Use smooth scrolling

6. Make sure box is checked

Alternatively, do 1-4 above, then click Restore Defaults button.

Hope this solves your problem.

It sounds as though your laptop is still using the generic VGA drivers. Try re-installing the video driver from your laptop CD.
