Water official, judge, police officer among NACC targets
THE NATION

BANGKOK: -- THE Songkhla Public Prosecutor has filed a petition with the provincial court to confiscate Bt113 million in assets from Samart Jaisamut, head of the Office of Water Resource region 8.

National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) secretary-general Sansern Polajiak announced this news yesterday.

The NACC voted unanimously in March to endorse an NACC panel resolution that Samart was unusually rich and his Bt113 million in assets should be confiscated.

The anti-graft agency then sent its decision to the Attorney General for prosecution. The Office of the Attorney General then ordered the Office of Songkhla Provincial Public Prosecutor to file the suit in court.

The NACC yesterday also resolved that Pol Lt-Colonel Saneh Satienpong face disciplinary action from his superior for punishing a subordinate without appointing a fact-finding panel, Sansern said.

The NACC also resolved that a criminal action be taken against Judge Chotika Petluan for a serious disciplinary offence.

The NACC resolved that then Chon Buri Judge Chotika overruled an order not to grant temporary release for a suspect without following accepted standards and in favour of the suspect, Sansern said.

The NACC also ruled that Ratchaburi mayor Samanant Laowanitwisit intentionally submitted a false asset declaration. The agency sought a ruling from the Supreme Court's Criminal Division for Political Office Holders to remove Samanant from office and hit her with five-year political ban.

The anti-graft body also resolved that Nuanchan Wilaikaew, financial officer of the Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives in Maha Sarakham committed a serious disciplinary offence by embezzling the bank's money.

The NACC had sought the ruling from the Attorney General to take legal action against her.

The agency also resolved that sub-lieutenant Siriket Wanitbamrung, then an officer at the Narathiwat Taskforce 39, assaulted a security suspect to death.

The agency has asked his superior to take disciplinary action and sought approval from the Attorney General to take criminal action against him.

until they actually do more than ban them for 5 years or re assign them this will keep happening, How about jail time for fraud, killing, theft, corruption etc instead of a slap on the wrist, confiscate their money/holdings and make them repay all money gained corruptly. Way past time they made these criminals(thats what they are) pay for what they are doing, it is a good way to send out a message that the time for using corruption to make money while doing govt work is not on and will be automatic jail time.

I'll tell you why, it's because they're ALL at it, every last one of them. 1+ million baht x how many officials, water or otherwise, in every tambon in Thailand, and they're all covering each others' backs. The lot of them.
