tourist visa

Featured Replies

Hi there, I'm simply a tourist travelling round Thailand on visa waver from airport immigration. Can someone advise the longest / most cost effective visa I could get across a land boarder bearing in mind I am splurge a tourist and haven't found my wife yet.

You can get a 2 entry tourist visa in Vientiane or Savannakhet Laos that would allow almost 6 months of total stay.

Each entry is for 60 days that can be extended for 30 days at an immigration office. After that first 90s day you would need to leave and re-enter the country to use the 2nd entry.

Could I do that at any loas border, just so I understand it in simple terms for you go in and out what does a double entry entail?

You would have to enter Laos and go to the Thai embassy in Vientiane or the consulate in Savannakhet to apply for a 2 entry tourist visa. The fee for the visa is 2000 baht.

Once you have the visa you enter the country get a 60 day entry then go to an immigration office and then extend the 60 days for 30 days Then you could go any border crossing leave and re-enter to use the 2nd entry and obtain another 60 day entry.

Are you still allowed to cross the border and return the same day?

Yes, if you have a valid visa. For example if you go from Mae Sot to Myawaddy then you have to return the same day as Myanmar don't allow you to stay over night without a Myanmar visa.

There are only "2 week" stamps for non G7 passport holders seeking visa exempt entries. I you have succeeded in obtaining more than one or two of these two week stamps you are very lucky.

60 day stamps can only be obtained by those who have a tourist visa from a Thai Embassy/Consulate.

You have to go to the Thai embassy in Vientiane, Loas and apply for a tourist visa.

A double entry visa is available.

You cannot get a 60 day entry without a visa.

OK I think I understand, so what you saying is once in loas the thia embassay will give me visa, how long should I account for the tourist visa once I've applied? Providing I go on a Saturday could I have this taken care of the same day for a trip back on Sunday or Saturday afternoon?

All Government offices are closed at the weekend.

If a visa is applied for on Monday before 11am you will receive the visa on Tuesday pm.

The cost of a double entry visa is 2000 Bht.

OP without sounding rude you are a newbie here and as such are struggling to understand the visa rules, no disgrace in that I have been here 10 years and still get confused biggrin.png

If you want a Tourist Visa I would advise you to join this trip to Laos, nearly everything is taken care of for you

I joined this trip a few months ago and everything went smoothly
