Thailand's energy consumption rises 2.4%

BANGKOK: -- Thailand's energy consumption in the first eight months of this year rose by 2.4 per cent, according to the Energy Policy and Planning Office.

Of all energy sources, fuel oil accounted for 29 per cent, natural gas 36 per cent, alternative energy 20 per cent, and coal 13 per cent. As domestic production dropped by 1.1 per cent, energy imports in the period increased by 8.6 per cent.

Refined oil consumption rose by 2.2 per cent on year, due mainly to the 13.3 per cent increase in petrol consumption in line with falling oil prices. Diesel consumption rose by only 3.3 per cent while thanks to robust tourism industry jet fuel usage rose by 9.1 per cent.

LPG consumption dropped by 7.7 per cent, averaging 573 tonnes per month. NGV consumption also dropped by 1.3 per cent.

Electricity usage during January and August is expected to rise by 3.4 per cent due to the drought. The usage rose in all sectors, but the agricultural sector which suffered from the drought.

Maybe 2% thermal energy produced by government "hot air". Unaccounted for or not wanting to accept it occurs?

From their air conditioned enclaves, the Pope and Obama are telling the unwashed masses not to have their own A/C. Power and power consumption is only for the rich and elite. So you average people: Stop using energy. Go back to using a manual hand fan and learn to enjoy sweating!
